摘要: A cursive character handwriting recognition system includes image processing means for processing an image of a handwritten word of one or more characters and classification means for determining an optimal string of one or more characters as composing the imaged word. The processing means segments the characters such that each character is made up of one or more segments and determines a sequence of the segments using an over-segmentation-relabeling algorithm. The system also includes feature extraction means for deriving a feature vector to represent feature information of one segment or a combination of several consecutive segments. The over-segmentation-relabeling algorithm places certain segments considered as diacritics or small segments so as to immediately precede or follow a segment of the associated main character body. Additionally, the system also includes classification means that processes each string of segments and outputs a number of optimal strings which could be matched against a given lexicon.

摘要: A method for recognition of a handwritten pattern comprises selecting core points among a sequence of detected points of the handwritten pattern. The core points are selected for use in segmenting and recognizing the handwritten pattern. The method further comprises determining features of each core point, and comparing the handwritten pattern to templates. The comparing comprises stepwise analyzing the core points in sequence by matching the features of sequences of core points that either start with the first core point or the last core point of a previous sequence to said templates and calculating a distance value, and assigning a cumulative distance value to the last core point in the matched sequence of core points, whereby a smallest cumulative distance value is assigned to the last core point and corresponds to a sequence of matched templates which represent a possible recognition result of the handwritten pattern.

摘要: A system for recognizing handwritten words of cursive script by extracting temporal information from static text is described. The temporal information consists of the shape, location and temporal sequence of the segments, or "primitives", constituting the word and is translated from bit maps images of the words into digital information format. By comparing the digital information with formatted digital information for a plurality of known words, as may be stored in computer memory, a list of words having a relatively high probability of matching the static text is generated, and used for word recognition by a process of selecting the most likely match.

摘要: A method and apparatus for cursive script recognition employs an intermediate cursive words description language constructed of elements in the form of metastrokes wherein each of the metastrokes is a member of a metric space, the metric space being expressible as a matrix of likelihood of matching between input metastrokes and predefined metastrokes forming a vocabulary. Typically, a minimum of twenty metastrokes is used to form the vocabulary or set of allowable stroke elemental shapes, although as many as seventy may be used, with a correlation factor or measurement of similarity being defined between strings of metastrokes. Techniques for interpreting the metastrokes as words include substituting, adding, and deleting metastrokes in an input sequence, measuring similarity and comparing with entries in a dictionary of words constructed of metastroke sequences and variants of metastroke sequences. Weighting of similarity may include penalties for lack of similarity.

摘要: Analog written content of handwritten drawings or written characters can be transformed into digital ink via an analog-to-ink service. The analog-to-ink service can receive a static image of the analog written content, extract analog strokes from other information, such as background, in the static image, and then convert the analog strokes to digital ink strokes, for example, by populating an ink container with at least two parameters for defining the digital ink strokes. The at least two parameters can include a pressure, at tilt, a direction, a beginning point, an end point, a direction, a color, an order, an overlap, a language, and a time. The analog-to-ink service can provide the ink container to a content creation application that supports inking so that a user can manipulate the content in an inking environment.
