    摘要: The invention relates to a multiple cutting edge rotary tool having a radial individual adjustment of each cutting edge or having a central adjustment for all cutting edges together. The multiple cutting edge rotary tool used for machining has a number of holders that have, in the front part, cavities for accommodating cutting plates and have, in the area between their ends, a hole for passing through a fixing device with which each holder can be fixed to a support. The holder, on its portion that supports the cutting plate, can be elastically deflected in relation to a support by means of an adjusting device. In addition, the holder is provided with an opening and forms a parallel spiral spring arrangement whereby the cutting plate, during its adjustment, is essentially subjected to a parallel displacement with regard to the cutting edge. The adjusting device is provided in the form of a central adjusting screw which, as an axially adjustable differential screw, retains, by means of a lifting motion of the differential screw, the holder in a manner that permits it to be radially displaced in relation to its support and without play. The retention of said holder is effected by adjustable pressure pieces that are supported on parts of the adjusting screw.

    摘要: An ultra-precision sub-micron boring tool and pre-setting system for finishing through bores or blind bores is disclosed. The system includes a cylindrical cartridge having an internal hollow portion, a first through bore located in the hollow portion, and a toothed segment lodged in the first through bore. The toothed segment and a micrometric screw, which passes through an axial bore in the toothed segment, are arranged on a common geometric axis. A bushing having an internal thread is located in the interior of the axial bore so that the micrometric screw engages with the internal thread. The system also includes a hollow stud which lodges and retains the bushing, a set of rings which carry and envelope the micrometric screw so that the micrometric screw is supported by the set of rings in relation to the cylindrical cartridge, a locknut, a graduated dial attached to an end of the micrometric screw through the locknut, and a second through bore located in the cylindrical cartridge. The second through bore is arranged substantially in a right angle plane which may be inclined in relation to the first through bore. A tool tip is located on a tool shank lodged in the second through bore. Further, the system has a backlash suppression system located in the second through bore and between the tool shank and the toothed segment in the first through bore.

    摘要: An adjustable boring bar characterized in that the bar has a transverse rectangular slot diametrically therethrough in which the overlapped rectangular shank portions of a pair of cutter elements are slidable for simultaneous radial outward or inward movement with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bar by a screw actuated cam means which engages the respective shank portions. The screw actuated cam means comprises a nut movable in a transverse bore in the bar by rotation of a dial screw, said nut having an inclined cam face which engages the tapered rear end of a cam plunger to move it longitudinally in a central bore in the bar, said plunger having a V-shaped front end engaged with offset V-shaped notches in the respective shank portions of the cutter elements. The adjustable boring bar herein is further characterized in that the cutter elements are locked in adjusted position by screw means in the bar extending transversely through openings in the overlapped shank portions of the cutter elements and being operative to constrict the transverse slot to firmly clamp the overlapped shank portions together.

    摘要: An adjustable wedge for a tool bit has a sloping face on a cylindrical body which is mounted in a cylindrical aperture where it can rotate. The opposite side of the body has a notch engaged by the head of a screw for adjusting the wedge axially within the aperture. A flat triangular bit is retained on a seat by a finger to have a corner tie exposed for cutting. By having the sloping face of the wedge engage the edge of the bit opposite to that of the tip being used, the bit can be adjusted outwardly by the movement of the wedge inwardly of the aperture by the screw. The bit usually is provided with sloping edges which converge to provide relief to the cutting tips and the sloping face of the wedge will cause the wedge to rotate so that the sloping face will be coplanar with the sloping bit edge.
