摘要： A canted U-configuration wire bridle has the legs thereof extended through openings in a dished planer body, the planer held on the wire bridle by suitable means secured to the portions of the legs extending through the planer body. The openings are located on the midline of the body, and are substantially larger than the legs extending therethrough. A lead weight is secured to the lower one of the legs of the bridle. A hook line or lure is secured to the top of the planer body. A trolling or fishing line is slidably attached for movement along the base of the U of the wire bridle. If desired, an elongated rod is pivotally secured to the lower end of the base of the wire bridle and releasably attached to the upper end thereof. The trolling or fishing line is then slidably attached for movement along the elongated rod. Pulling on the trolling line with a predetermined force releases the rod and allows the fish planer to rise to the surface along with the hook or lure.

摘要： A jig to aid in tying a knot in a line or cord, for example for knotting a fishing line onto a connector means or a hook. The jig is a hollow tubular member with the ends cut at 45* angles and provided with a notch in the cut end and a hole adjacent the notch. In use, the line is laid along the side of the jig, passed through the eye of the fish hook or connector which preferably is laid in the notch, wrapped in several loops, usually three, around the jig and has the end of the line threaded through the hole. When the jig is cleared by slipping the loops off of it, the end of the line is pulled through the convolutions and the ends of the line can then be drawn tight to complete the knot.

摘要： Slidably mounted between fixed stops on a drop wire weighted at its lower end with a sinker is a helical coiled wire spring having a diameter sufficiently larger than the diameter of the drop wire or leader to permit the sidewise displacement of the spring. This displacement provides a sufficient clearance therebetween to permit the insertion of the reversely-bent end portion of the vertical arm of an L-shaped outrigger. The elongated approximately horizontal arm of the outrigger carries at its outer end a quick-operating coupling for a fish hook or for the leader of a fish hook. The outrigger is releasably secured to the spring by means of the reversely-bent end portion of the vertical arm.

The laterallybent eye of a horizontal fish hook is quick-detachably interlocked with the laterally-offset V-shaped loop on the outer end of this outrigger with the reversely-bent portion of the loop passing through the eye of the fish hook and detachably secured by a coiled-wire sleeve slidably mounted on the outrigger and yieldably held in place of the laterally-bent detent end thereof. In a modification, arms of the outrigger automatically counterbalance one another for easier swinging, and their hooks disposed in horizontal planes tend to be deflected as they are raised or lowered past obstructions, thereby reducing snagging.
