摘要： An improvement in layer stripping means is disclosed for lumber stacking machines wherein successive layers of boards are stripped onto a stack from a layer handling means. The improved stripping means is comprised of a pair of circular discs sandwiching a smooth, toothless chain sprocket. The discs and sprockets are rotatably mounted to the stacking machine adjacent the front of the machine. A powered roller chain extends about the toothless sprocket to normally rotate the discs about their axes in a forwardly rotating motion. The rearward board of each layer held on the layer handling means is brought into contact with an abutment surface defined by the peripheral edges of the rotating discs, as the handling means is moved rearwardly. Such engagement halts rearward movement of the layer while the layer handling means continues to move rearwardly. The layer is thereby stripped onto the stack. The rotating discs, however, present a biasing means for urging the engaged rearward board downwardly to prevent it from becoming disoriented or otherwise buckling in the layer as a result of the rearward force from the retracting layer handling means.

摘要： A control apparatus for a stacking machine for boards of regular and irregular shape, comprising (a) means which produce an electrical pulse for each unit of displacement path of the boards transversely with respect to their lengthwise direction; (b) two pre-selection pulse counters which can be reset to null; (c) scanning or feeler switch means which permit the infeed of the generated pulses to both pre-selection pulse counters during passage of the boards past a scanning location; (d) an operable connection between both pre-selection pulse counters so that during one working cycle one such pre-selection pulse counter functions as an adding counter mechanism and the other as a storage counter mechanism, in that after interrupting the infeed of the pulses - which is comparable to the throughpassage of the rear edge of a board past the scanning location - the other of such pre-selection pulse counters is reset to null, and specifically until the adding counter mechanism has attained a pre-selected pulse number, wherein at the moment of reaching such pre-selected pulse number (di) both pulse counters are switched so that from that moment on the storage counting mechanism functions as an adding counter mechanism and the adding counter mechanism functions as a storage counter mechanism, so that the combination of both such counters is prepared for the measurements in the next working cycle, (dii) a relay is actuated which at a follow-up or sequence control mechanism triggers a first operation of a logical sequence of working operations of the stacking machine.

摘要： A lumber stacking apparatus is described having a reciprocating carriage with a forked arm assembly for picking up a course of boards at a course pickup station and carrying the course to a course stacking station. The carriage is provided with a crank drive mechanism for reciprocating the carriage. The crank drive mechanism has a crank shaft with a cam thereon that operates a bell crank to, (1) raise the forked arm assembly at the course pickup station to pick up a course of boards; (2) maintain the forked arm assembly elevated during movement to the course stacking station, and (3) lower the forked arm assembly at the course stacking station in front of a stripping means.

摘要： An automatic machine for stacking objects, as metal ingots, having a loading unit with a movable carriage operable to carry ingots to an ingot collector and holding unit. The ingots are collected on movable supports located above a rotatable elevator platform. On movement of the supports to the open positions, the ingots are transferred to the elevator platform or the top layer of ingots carried by the elevator platform. Consecutive layers of ingots are normally disposed with respect to each other by rotating the elevator platform after each layer of ingots is transferred to the top layer of ingots. The complete stack of ingots is pushed with a hydraulic ram from the elevator platform onto a roller stack conveyor.
