摘要： A hanger bar for supporting a recessed light fixture is attachable to ceiling joists or a T-bar grid of a drop down ceiling. First and second bars of the hanger bar slide and telescope. First and second spring clips are detachably coupled to the brackets at the ends of the first and second bars, respectively. Each of the first and second clips has a pair of downwardly extending arms bent inwardly toward one another, a first leg extending from a first arm, a second leg extending from a second arm, and an outwardly-extending foot on the second leg. The spring clips snap on to the T-bar grid. Each bracket includes a nail that is angled away from the hanger bar and downward so that the nail head is below the level of the hanger bar. The angled nails enable easy hammer strikes to attach the hanger bar to ceiling joists without accidental hammer blows to the hanger bar. The bracket may be discrete from the hanger bar but attached via tox clinching or a tab pass-through attachment.

摘要： A suspension system is disclosed for suspending lightheads, monitors, cameras, or other medical apparatus from an overhead structure at a selectable height. A drop tube has a selected portion thereof surroundingly encompassed by a receiving element that has a variable inside diameter substantially conforming to a frustum of a cone. A mounting plate rigidly connects with the overhead structure and with the receiving element. The mounting plate has an opening through which an end of the drop tube passes. A wedge-shaped element has an overall variable outer diameter substantially conforming to a frustum of a cone and includes a lower threaded tapered region. The wedge-shaped element compressively inserts into the receiving element through tightening of a nut on the threaded tapered region. The element surroundingly encompasses the selected portion of the drop tube to effectuate a compressive clamping of the selected portion of the drop tube inside the receiving element.

摘要： A lighting device has a single end lamp in which a base is disposed at one end of a bulb, and a single end lamp socket into which the base is to be inserted and then twisted to be rotatively engaged with the socket. The lamp has a projection and a lamp pin both projected from a bottom of the base, the tip end of the projection being further projected from the bottom of the base than the tip end of the lamp pin. The socket has a recess into which the projection of the lamp is inserted and rotated by a predetermined angle, as well as a lamp pin insertion hole positioned outside of the recess and concentric with the recess, and having a substantially arcuate shape. A conductor plate which elastically makes contact with the lamp pin is disposed in the lamp pin insertion hole.

摘要： A lighting fixture with a socket base having a closed and cool running back which reduces the amount of heat transferred to the area behind the lamp socket base and allows lower temperature rated wires to be used in the installation of the lamp socket base. The lamp socket base has raised lugs on which the lamp socket rests. A gasket is placed around or between the lamp socket and the lamp socket base and another gasket is placed between the lamp socket base and the wall or ceiling box. The lamp socket base is constructed as one piece such as from a casting. All of these features help to reduce the amount of heat transferred from the lamp socket to the other side of the lamp socket base and also to the wires in the area behind the lamp socket base.

摘要： An electrical coupling device for detachably securing a fixture to an electrical outlet box comprises male and female interconnecting components. The fixture is connected to the male component where the male component is secured to the female component by rotating the male component. The male component has a plurality of catches. The male has a plurality of studs for insertion and engagement with the catches by way of rotational movement of the studs into the catches. The catches are spaced apart in a circular array at a first radius. The improvement comprises at least two spaced apart female resilient clips of electrically conductive metal. The clips are located in a circulr pattern at a second radius on the female component. The male component has at least two spaced-apart contacts of electrically conductive metal. The contacts are located in a circular pattern at the second radius. The male contacts are in register with the clips when the studs are in register with the catches. Rotation of the male component to engage the studs with the catches simultaneously engages the contacts with the clips to depress the clip slightly to ensure electrical contact. The electrical coupling device is characterized by minimal protrusion into the electrical junction box; direct mounting by means of a simple one-step rotation; and applicability to a wide range of fixtures and sizes of electrical outlet boxes; and direct mounting without the requirement of an outlet box.
