    摘要: An ice making system having a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator, and having freeze and harvest cycles. During the harvest cycle, vaporous refrigerant is circulated from the compressor to the evaporator through a discharge line, and is thereafter returned to the compressor through a supply line. A predetermined amount of refrigerant is condensed in a reservoir during the freeze cycle and expelled therefrom during the harvest cycle to augment the amount of refrigerant circulating in the system.

    摘要: The present invention provides an ice making machine including an ice making water tank adapted to supply ice making water in circulation to an ice making section during the ice making cycle, a harvesting water tank adapted to supply harvesting water to the ice making section during the harvesting cycle, a compressor adapted to supply refrigerant gas to an evaporator tube of the ice making section, a float switch provided to the harvesting water tank and adapted to sense the upper water limit of the harvesting water, a water feed valve adapted to supply water to the harvesting water tank, and a control circuit having a relay for sensing that the machine is in the ice making cycle, the circuit being connected to the float switch and to the water feed valve for controlling the operation thereof. The water feed valve is open only when an AND output signal of the relay and the float switch is issued.

    摘要: The method of repetitively making discrete blocks of ice which is performed with apparatus having a plurality of adjacently disposed ice freezing pockets formed with a refrigeration evaporator as the base of each pocket of the pockets, horizontally extending and vertically spaced apart evaporator fins as the sides of the pockets, and horizontally pivotal vertical plates as the ends of the pockets. A refrigeration apparatus is provided to alternately freeze the refrigeration evaporator of the ice freezing pockets and very quickly and very briefly heat the refrigeration evaporator directly to loosen the ice blocks from the freezing pockets. Apparatus is provided to apply a force to the vertical plates until the immediate surfaces of the ice blocks are melted and loosened from the freezing pockets. The vertical plates thereon move the ice blocks within the freezing pockets, then are rapidly returned to an initial position which ejects the ice blocks completely from the freezing pockets.

    摘要: An apparatus for making ice product has a vertically arranged refrigerating plate having a freezing surface and a refrigerant pipe on the side of the plate opposite to said freezing surface, and a flushing water spray pipe arranged on the upper portion of the aforementioned side of the refrigerating plate, with the ice-making water flowing down along the freezing surface for formation of ice products. The freezing plate is a strip of sheet metal of lower heat conductivity and comprised of alternate elongated recesses and projections extending in the flowing down direction of the ice making water, with the recesses essentially forming the freezing surface. The freezing surface has a plurality of horizontal formations on the forward sides of the recesses and vertically intermediate the adjoining straight portions of the refrigerant pipe, with the formations extending normal to the flowing down direction of the ice-making water. The ice products of approximately semi-cylindrical configurations are formed on the freezing surface intermediate the horizontal formations.

    摘要: An ice making machine selectively produces both white and clear ice. Water is frozen in a tube 14 which has disposed thereabout in heat exchange relation a refrigerant evaporator tube 92. During a freezing cycle a reversing valve 84 directs cold refrigerant through the evaporator tube 92 in a first direction FC. During a harvest cycle the reversing valve 84 directs hot refrigerant through the evaporator in a reverse direction HC. After thawing ice is discharged from the tube 14 by pressurized gas.

    摘要: Ice-making apparatus having an evaporator including a helical tubing section, means for supplying water to the exterior surface thereof and means for supplying refrigerant to the evaporator to cause freezing of a helix of ice on the exterior surface thereof. An elongated driver is located axially within the helical tubing, and hot gas from the compressor frees the ice helix from its bond to helical tubing following discontinuation of supply of refrigerant thereto. The driver is rotated to slide the ice helix along the tubing and fracture the leading end of the helix into smaller ice pieces at a discharge point, preferably at the top of the unit.A star-wheel driver may be located coaxially within the helical tubing and have four radially extending fins for engaging grooves in the interior surface of the ice helix. The four fins are warmed so as to obviate formation of a strong bond between them and the ice helix. Water fills a tubular surrounding enclosure to sufficient depth to immerse a substantial portion of helical tubing, and air is supplied to a lower location therewithin during freezing to agitate the water and promote the formation of a helix of clear ice.

    摘要: A reversible cycle ice making machine provided with a tube-in-tube evaporator having disposed between the tubes thereof an annular chamber through which a refrigerant is adapted to flow and bond a hollow ice column upon the inside surface of the inner tube during the freezing cycle; and during the succeeding defrost cycle, to thaw the bond by a dual acting defrost system.One of the defrost actions of the system is effected by flowing a defrost fluid, such as hot gas, endwise through the annular chamber to cause the refrigerant remaining the chamber from the preceding freezing cycle to be progressively replaced by the defrost fluid while the ice column bond is progressively thawed in the endwise direction. Thus, the length of the chamber containing the defrosting fluid progressively increases as the complementary length containing the remaining refrigerant fluid decreases during the flow of both fluids in tandem and downstream through the chamber.The other defrost action is effected concurrently with the first action by continuously flowing a second defrost fluid, such as city water, over the outer evaporator tube to elevate the temperature of the complementary refrigerant remaining in the chamber from the preceding freezing cycle and also to elevate the reduced temperature of the first defrost fluid, thereby diminishing the work load of the first defrost fluid to shorten the defrost cycle.The invention is further characterized by three types of defrost controls especially adapted for use in combination with the dual acting system under specified conditions so as to increase the operating efficiency and further reduce the duration of the defrost cycle.
