Abstract: An encoding device according to the disclosure includes a first encoding unit that generates a first encoded signal in which a low-band signal having a frequency lower than or equal to a predetermined frequency from a voice or audio input signal is encoded, and a low-band decoded signal; a second encoding unit that encodes, on the basis of the low-band decoded signal, a high-band signal having a band higher than that of the low-band signal to generate a high-band encoded signal; and a first multiplexing unit that multiplexes the first encoded signal and the high-band encoded signal to generate and output an encoded signal. The second encoding unit calculates an energy ratio between a high-band noise component, which is a noise component of the high-band signal, and a high-band non-tonal component of a high-band decoded signal generated from the low-band decoded signal and outputs the ratio as the high-band encoded signal.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an encoder comprising a quantization stage, an entropy encoder, a residual quantization stage and a coded signal former. The quantization stage is configured to quantize an input signal using a dead zone in order to obtain a plurality of quantized values. The entropy encoder is configured to encode the plurality of quantized values using an entropy encoding scheme in order to obtain a plurality of entropy encoded values. The residual quantization stage is configured to quantize a residual signal caused by the quantization stage, wherein the residual quantization stage is configured to determine at least one quantized residual value in dependence on the dead zone of the quantization stage. The coded signal former is configured to form a coded signal from the plurality of entropy encoded values and the at least one quantized residual value.

Abstract: In an encoding method that is expected to produce a smaller code amount out of a periodicity-based encoding method and a non-periodicity-based encoding method, the amount of code or an estimated value of the amount of code of an integer value sequence which is derived from an audio signal is obtained while adjusting gain. In the other encoding method, an integer value sequence obtained in this process is substituted to obtain the amount of code or an estimated value of the amount of code of the integer value sequence. The obtained code amounts or estimated values are compared to choose one of the encoding methods and the integer value sequence is encoded using the chosen encoding method to obtain and output an integer signal code.

In particular, the coding efficiency in multichannel audio coding may be rendered more efficient by performing the noise filling based on noise generated using spectral lines from a previous frame of, or a different channel of the current frame of, the multichannel audio signal.

Abstract: Provided are a voice audio encoding device, voice audio decoding device, voice audio encoding method, and voice audio decoding method that efficiently perform bit distribution and improve sound quality. Dominant frequency band identification unit identifies a dominant frequency band having a norm factor value that is the maximum value within the spectrum of an input voice audio signal. Dominant group determination units and non-dominant group determination unit group all sub-bands into a dominant group that contains the dominant frequency band and a non-dominant group that contains no dominant frequency band. Group bit distribution unit distributes bits to each group on the basis of the energy and norm variance of each group. Sub-band bit distribution unit redistributes the bits that have been distributed to each group to each sub-band in accordance with the ratio of the norm to the energy of the groups.

Abstract: The present document relates an audio encoding and decoding system (referred to as an audio codec system). In particular, the present document relates to a transform-based audio codec system which is particularly well suited for voice encoding/decoding. A quantization unit configured to quantize a first coefficient of a block of coefficients is described. The block of coefficients comprises a plurality of coefficients for a plurality of corresponding frequency bins. The quantization unit is configured to provide a set of quantizers. The set of quantizers comprises a plurality of different quantizers associated with a plurality of different signal-to-noise ratios, referred to as SNR, respectively. The plurality of different quantizers includes a noise-filling quantizer; one or more dithered quantizers; and one or more un-dithered quantizers. The quantization unit is further configured to determine an SNR indication indicative of a SNR attributed to the first coefficient, and to select a first quantizer from the set of quantizers, based on the SNR indication. In addition, the quantization unit is configured to quantize the first coefficient using the first quantizer.

The method includes: determining sparseness of distribution, on spectrums, of energy of N input audio frames (101), where the N audio frames include a current audio frame, and N is a positive integer; and determining, according to the sparseness of distribution, on the spectrums, of the energy of the N audio frames, whether to use a first encoding method or a second encoding method to encode the current audio frame (102), where the first encoding method is an encoding method that is based on time-frequency transform and transform coefficient quantization and that is not based on linear prediction, and the second encoding method is a linear-predication-based encoding method. The method can reduce encoding complexity and ensure that encoding is of relatively high accuracy.
