    Abstract: A system and method for persistent monitoring, detecting, and mitigating detecting and isolating a high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (“HEMP”) along electrical lines electrically connected to a monitored infrastructure so as to protect the monitored infrastructure, the method including a phase unit receiving sensor signals from a plurality of analog sensor circuits electrically connected to each of the electrical lines, respectively, upstream of and associated with the monitored infrastructure. The method includes determining, limiting, shunting, and limiting the impinged transient surges and instantaneously indicates locally the status of the monitored parameters using visual and audio sound via a cybersecure optical communication channel supporting a plurality of wavelengths, from which one wavelength is utilized for a one-directional communication and a different wavelength optical signal establishing a controlled temporary two-directional communication for surge protection system maintenance and update.

    Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to detection of an overcurrent condition by determining if a voltage across a current-sense resistor exceeds a predetermined voltage threshold. The voltage at each side of the current-sense resistor is sensed indirectly, through a diode network. The diode networks through which the voltages on each side of the current-sense resistor are biased differently from one another. Such differently-biased diode networks translate the voltages at each side of the current-sense resistor by different amounts, the biasing of these diode networks is such that a voltage difference between the second terminals of the first and second diode networks is of a first polarity during normal current conditions, and the voltage difference between the second terminals of the first and second diode networks is of a second polarity during overcurrent conditions.

    Abstract: Analog Front End (AFE) driver or transmitter is used for ESD protection of an input-output (IO) pin, thus reducing ESD diode count and subsequently lowering the pad capacitance to achieve high performance in IO circuits like double data rate (DDR) IO, PCI Express (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express), etc. The channel of active devices that constitute AFE driver are used to connect an IO pad to discharge the ESD current to ground, thus providing an alternative path to ESD current and subsequently reducing the ESD diode count. An additional p-type device (Driver Path Enabler (DPE)) is coupled between the IO pad and a gate terminal of the AFE driver. This additional p-type device triggers the channel of the AFE driver. This p-type device is controlled by an RC based structure which cuts the p-type device off during regular operations when power is ramped-up.

    Abstract: A power value for a low-voltage AC circuit, such as low-voltage circuit breaker, is derived. A voltage between conductors of the low-voltage AC circuit is ascertained and a current of at least one conductor is ascertained by a Rogowski coil, which outputs an analog voltage that is an equivalent to the level of the electric current. The analog voltage of the Rogowski coil is integrated and then digitized, and the level of the voltage is digitized. A power value is calculated in each case from a sample value of the current and an interpolated voltage value. The interpolated voltage value is in each case ascertained from two successive sample values of the voltage such that a phase error generated by the Rogowski coil or/and the integrator is compensated for in relation to the electric current in the conductor and a phase error-free power value is ascertained.

    Abstract: An object is to provide a new electronic control unit that can improve detection accuracy of a sense current even in a region where the current value of the sense current is small. Provided is a sense current detection unit including a plurality of sense transistors that have different current flow rates and that are connected to current output transistors controlling a current flowing in a coil load. The current in the sense current detection unit is input to an analog/digital converter, and the current value of the current flowing in the sense current detection unit is converted into a digital value. The current value of the current flowing in the sense current detection unit is increased through a combination or a selection of the plurality of sense transistors of the sense current detection unit in a region where the current value of the main current of the current output transistors is small compared to a region where the current value of the main current is large.
