Abstract: The invention relates to a method of recovering Pt or Ag or Pt and Ag from a sulfate solution on an electrode. In particular, the invention concerns a method for recovering Pt or Ag or Pt and Ag from base metal bearing process solution, particularly from a hydrometallurgical sacrificial metal bearing solution containing Zn and/or Ni. In general, the method of the present invention can be used for recovery of precious metals, which are dissolvable in sulfuric acid, from sulfate media based solutions. In addition to Pt and Ag, especially Pd should be mentioned.
Deposited precious metal(s) can be recovered from the electrode or the deposition containing electrode can be used as such.-

Abstract: Method of preparing a dispersion of colloidal lignin particles by providing a solution of lignin in a mixture of an organic solvent for lignin and a non-solvent for lignin having a ratio of non-solvent to solvent; and increasing the ratio of the non-solvent to the solvent to produce an aqueous dispersion of colloidal lignin particles. The dispersions are stable and the colloidal lignin particles are useful for many applications such as rheology modifiers in three-dimensional printing of hydrogels, or in purification systems such as filters, and packed columns, and as flocculants.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for magnetic measurements and/or magnetic imaging such as an MRI device or a hybrid MEG-MRI device. The device comprises an array of one or more detectors for the magnetic signal and one or more coils for producing preparatory magnetic field pulses. The device further comprises means to drive current pulses through the said coils, wherein at least one of the coils comprises material that is Type-II superconducting at the operating temperature. The device is configured to cancel out at least part of the field generated by the remanent magnetization after a current pulse by the shape of the current pulse and/or the geometrically balanced design of the coil.

Abstract: A field-enhancing device includes at least one metal layer or a metal grating consisting of metal stripes or a dielectric grating. Usually the device is constructed on some substrate. The adhesive layer is advantageous when the next layer is metallic but is not needed with dielectric layers. The next layers to be constructed form a mirror structure that can also be omitted for simple field-enhancing device constructs. The mirror structure can be either a metal mirror structure or a distributed Bragg reflector structure (DBR). The next layer is the thin metal layer. This layer can be covered with a 1-D metal grating consisting of metal stripes or with a dielectric grating having similar geometry. The structure can also be fabricated without metals when dielectric grating is used as the field-enhancing part. Finally, a protective layer can be added on top of the structure.
