Abstract:
Embodiments relate to systems and methods for implementation on a mobile device to force the mobile device into a secure state upon detection or determination of a triggering event. Once it is determined that a triggering event has occurred, each application operating on the mobile device is caused to immediately unreference sensitive objects and a secure garbage collection operation is performed upon the unreferenced sensitive objects to render data associated therewith unreadable. The mobile device is then caused to enter a secure state, in which the mobile device cannot be accessed without authorization. A microprocessor within the mobile device is configured to determine the existence of the triggering event according to a configuration data structure and to perform the secure garbage collection.
Abstract:
A system and method for handling secure-format messages in a communication system. The communication system includes a message server that receives secure-format messages from senders and one or more message recipients that may receive messages forwarded from the message server. The message server operates in conjunction with a secure message handler to detect and prevent the delivery of invalid secure-format messages. When a secure-format message is determined to be invalid, the secure message handler may take one or more of the following actions: replace the body of the invalid message with a template message, send a message to the sender of the invalid message indicating the message was rejected, delete the invalid message from the recipient's mailbox, or log the message on the message server and mark it for review. Additionally, the handling of invalid messages is configurable. In particular, the actions to take and the conditions under which those actions are to be taken may be specified by an administrator.
Abstract:
Enhanced reset logic is included in a user's computerized device so that the device owner (e.g., the user's employer) can assure prompt reset (e.g., to insure device use of newly downloaded software versions or other control or security data) while still allowing user convenience (e.g., some limited continued normal use of the device before reset is forced upon the user thus permitting the user to avoid possibly aggravating losses of data and/or ongoing usage).
Abstract:
A method for updating an electronic mail (“email”) message presented to a user on a display screen of a data processing system, the email message belonging to a thread of email messages received by the data processing system, the method comprising: determining whether one or more of the email messages in the thread was received after the email message is opened on the display screen; and, if so, displaying an update message on the display screen indicating that one or more of the email messages in the thread was so received.
Abstract:
A method for responding to an electronic mail (“email”) message presented to a user on a display screen of a data processing system, comprising: receiving a command from the user to generate a reply to the email message using content from one or more template replies, the reply having a subject line and a body; presenting a choice of the one or more template replies to the user; receiving a command to select a template reply from the choice, the template reply having a subject line and a body; and generating the reply by inserting content from the body of the template reply into the body of the reply.
Abstract:
A circuit board tester that uses a dual-stage translation to bring a unit under test (UUT) into physical and electric contact first with a series of tall probes, then with a series of short probes. Initially, the UUT is mounted on a support plate, and spaced apart from both the tall and short probes. First, in order to perform a functional test on the UUT, a first vacuum stage is engaged, and atmospheric pressure translates the UUT longitudinally until contact is made with a first hard stop, defining a first position. At this first position, the UUT is in contact with a series of tall probes, and is spaced apart from a series of short probes. After a function test is performed, a second vacuum stage is engaged in addition to, and independent of, the first vacuum stage. Atmospheric pressure translates the UUT longitudinally until contact is made with a second hard stop, defining a second position.
Abstract:
A system and method for registering entities for code signing services. The entities may be software application developers or other individuals or entities that wish to have applications digitally signed. Signing of the applications may be required in order to enable the applications to access sensitive APIs and associated resources of a computing device when the applications are executed on the computing device. In one embodiment, a method of registering entities for code signing services will comprise the step of transmitting at least some account data to the registering individual or entity using an out-of-band communication system. This provides added security that the individual or entity registering for a code signing service is who that individual or entity purports to be.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing code signing services to software application developers or to other individuals or entities that wish to have applications digitally signed. Signing of the applications may be required in order to enable the applications to access sensitive APIs and associated resources of a computing device when the applications are executed on the computing device. In one embodiment, a hash of an application is generated by a requestor of code signing services. The hash of the application, and not the application itself, may then be received in a code signing request to be digitally signed.
Abstract:
A method carried out by an electronic device enabled to send and receive electronic messages over a network, including: determining if a new electronic message received by the device is part of a message thread that includes the new message and at least one prior electronic message previously received at the device; and if the new message is determined to be part of a message thread, comparing address information of the new message with address information of the at least one prior electronic message in the message thread to determine if there has been a change in addressed recipients between the new message and the at least one prior electronic message, and if so, providing a notification to a user of the device of the existence of the change.
Abstract:
A method and system for external message address detection and warning is disclosed. A messaging application permits a message sender to create a message composition intended to be sent to at least one message address. The message address includes a first portion identifying the message address as belonging to a group of addresses and a second portion identifying the message address as belonging to a specific address within the group. A determination is made if the first portion of the message address identifies the message address as belonging to a predetermined group or groups of addresses; if the first portion does not identify the message address as belonging to the predetermined group or groups of addresses, a warning is provide to the user of the device.
