Abstract: A resident of a controlled-environment facility is provided with messaging-initiated interactive sessions. A non-resident records a message for a resident. At a later time, the resident requests use of a resident device. Use of the resident device is authorized and the resident is notified of the message from the non-resident. The message is presented to the resident for review via the resident device. If requested by the resident, approval for an interactive session between the resident and the non-resident is determined. The immediate availability of the non-resident for the requested interactive session is determined. If the non-resident is available, a request is issued to the non-resident for the approved interactive session. The non-resident may be notified of the remaining time the resident has access has access to the resident device and may be presented an option for the approved interactive session during this time window.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices provide gaming services to residents of a controlled-environment facility. A first network interface of a device provides a restricted-bandwidth connection to a gaming system via one or more network access points located within the facility. A second network interface of the device establishes a second connection with the gaming system via a high-bandwidth connection in order to download one or more games to the device. Once the device is disconnected from the high-bandwidth connection, a request for the resident to access a downloaded game is issued to the gaming system via the restricted-bandwidth connection. An authorization key granting temporary access to the game is transmitted to the device via the restricted-bandwidth connection. The resident has access to the game until expiration of the authorization key is detected. The authorization key may expire based on duration of gameplay or based on gameplay progress.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, and systems for verifying inmate presence during a secure facility transaction. In one embodiment, a method may include receiving input information to initiate a user session at an interactive data terminal, generating user presence information to track the presence of the user at the interactive data terminal, determining that the user has left the interactive data terminal in response to the presence information, and automatically terminating the user session in response to a determination that the user has left the interactive data terminal.

Abstract: Embodiments of intelligent facility devices for use in controlled facility environments are described. In various embodiments, the intelligent facility devices provide limited or controlled access to data networks for inmates of a controlled facility. An embodiment of a method may include receiving a request for access to a network from a user interface device. The method may also include determining an authorized duration of network access for the user interface device. Additionally, the method may include establishing a temporary network access session between the user interface device and the network for the authorized duration of network access.

Abstract: Systems and methods for collaborative gaming are described herein. In some embodiments, a system comprises a computer system. The computer system comprises at least one processor and a memory coupled to the at least one processor. The memory stores program instructions are executable by the at least one processor to cause the computer system to perform tasks. The tasks include enabling a first user, via a first gaming device, to initiate a gaming session of a gaming application using an account of the first user, enabling a second user, via a second gaming device distinct from the first gaming device, to join the initiated gaming session; and enabling the second user, via the second gaming device, to engage in game-play in the initiated gaming session on behalf of the first user. The second user engages in the game-play using the account of the first user.

Abstract: Controlled-environment facility resident pattern electronic communication detection systems and methods may employ a controlled-environment facility secure communication platform, an investigative data aggregation and analysis system, and/or the like. Controlled-environment facility individual resident outgoing electronic communication velocity is monitored. The individual resident outgoing electronic communication velocity may be the number of electronic communications placed by a controlled-environment facility resident, to telephone numbers and/or electronic communication addresses over a period of time. A sharp increase in outgoing electronic communication velocity for a particular controlled-environment facility resident over a relatively short period of time may be recognized and controlled-environment facility personnel of a controlled-environment facility in which the particular controlled-environment facility resident resides may be alerted that the particular resident is at risk of imminent danger, such as suicide, in response to recognition of the sharp increase in outgoing electronic communication velocity for the particular resident over the relatively short period of time.

Abstract: Systems and methods, which can provide for an indication of a privileged communication, are provided. A method, according to an embodiment, uses at least one processor of a communication server device. Addressee information of one or more addressee(s) of a communication, sender information of a sender of the communication, or a combination thereof is received. The sender information, the addressee information, or a combination thereof is compared to registered user information maintained in a database. The registered user information corresponds to registered users to or from whom privileged communications may be sent or received. An indication that the communication is privileged is provided when the sender information, the addressee information, or the combination thereof corresponds to respective registered user information maintained in the database.

Abstract: Controlled-environment facility resident contact tools for intelligent controlled-environment facility resident communication and/or media device interfaces may be configured to present a contact list of non-residents of the controlled-environment facility for a respective resident of the controlled-environment facility, to the respective resident. The interface may also present the resident an interface to input name and contact information for the contacts. Additionally or alternatively, the system may auto-populate the contact list for at least one resident. Messages, such as nudges for the non-resident to take an action with respect to the resident, such as make a deposit to a trust account of the resident, set-up a video visitation with the resident, or the like, are transmitted to the contacts, in the name of the respective resident.

Abstract: A visitation system provides visitation sessions between a resident of a controlled-environment facility and a nonresident, where the nonresident utilizes a personal wireless devices that connects to a wireless access point that may be accessible from a designated visitation area of the facility. A connection request from a personal wireless device of a nonresident is evaluated to determine the personal wireless device is authorized to interface with the visitation system, and whether the nonresident is authorized to communicate with the resident. If authorized, a visitation session between the resident and the nonresident is initiated with the nonresident participating via the personal wireless device. The visitation system may respond to a visitation session request from a registered personal wireless device by sending an access code to the personal wireless device. By confirming the access code, the nonresident may initiate the requested visitation session that terminates upon expiration of the access code.
