Abstract: Embodiments of a Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are disclosed herein. The gNB may be configurable to operate as a source gNB (S-gNB). The S-gNB may transfer, from a control plane (CU-CP) of the S-gNB to a CU-CP of a target gNB (T-gNB), an XnAP handover request message that indicates an Xn handover of a User Equipment (UE) from the S-gNB to the T-gNB. The S-gNB may initiate data forwarding, from a user plane (CU-UP) of the S-gNB to a CU-UP of the T-gNB, of downlink data packets. The data forwarding may be terminated based on reception of end marker packets from a user plane function (UPF) entity. The CU-UP of the S-gNB may transfer end marker packets to the CU-UP of the S-gNB to indicate termination of the data forwarding.

Abstract: Systems and methods of setting up an E1 interface for a gNB are described. A transmitting entity of the gNB-CU-CP and gNB-CU-UP initiates the first TNL association between the gNB-CU-CP and gNB-CU-UP, and is also limited to initiating the E1 Setup procedure. The transmitting entity sends an E1 SETUP REQUEST message to set up the E1 interface. Afterwards, a message is received from the receiving entity. The transmitting entity determines that the setup of the E1 interface is successful if the message contains IEs of an E1 SETUP RESPONSE message. The types of IEs include a message type IE and a name of the transmitting entity.

In various aspects employing a LWIP acknowledgment mode, LWIPEP packets can comprise an enhanced GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) header comprising a SN (Sequence Number) of the payload of that LWIPEP packet, which can facilitate acknowledgment of LWIPEP packets and re-ordering of LWIPEP packets (e.g., communicated over a WLAN link, an LTE link, or both) based on the SN(s) indicated in the enhanced GRE header(s).

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) or network device such as a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) node, or V2X device operates to configure sidelink signals with another vehicle or node with resources that can be used for ranging and sidelink communications within a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network or a New Radio (NR) network. The UE/device generate or process a broadcast communication of the sidelink signal via an adaptive antenna array or a directional antenna array and forming a directional radiation pattern from a beam sweeping operation based on geo-location information determined based on a sidelink signal. Depending on the geo-location information coordinates or the position of other vehicles or nodes can be derived to select or configure resources for a sidelink communication, including a Sidelink Ranging Reference Signal (SR-RS) and associated sidelink communication data.

Abstract: Mapping information of a bearer or quality of service can be communicated from a Wireless Local Area Network Termination (WT) to the enhanced Node B (eNB), which then uses radio resource control (RRC) signaling to communicate the mapping to the user equipment (UE). For example, three options can be used to communicate mapping information: (1) Operations and Management (OAM), (2) Semi-static Xw-AP signaling (e.g., WT Configuration Update or Xw Setup procedures) or (3) Dynamic Xw-AP procedures (e.g., WT Addition Request procedure). In some embodiments, the mapping can be signaled by (1) bearer to wireless local area networks (WLAN) access category (AC) mapping or (2) long term evolution (LTE) quality of service class identifier (QCI) to WLAN AC mapping.

Abstract: An apparatus of a RAN node in which flexible feedback for user data transferred between RAN nodes is described. The DL PDCP PDUs to be delivered to a UE is transmitted over an Xn or X2 interface between RAN and NG-RAN nodes, respectively. Feedback received allows transmitting RAN node to control downlink user data flow. The feedback contains a DDDS frame that includes a highest transmitted and delivered PDCP SN indicator parameter that respectively indicates whether a highest transmitted and successfully delivered PDCP PDU is present in the DDDS message and a highest transmitted and successfully delivered PDCP SN PDU parameter that provides feedback respectively about a transmitted status of the PDU sequence and an in-sequence delivery status of the PDUs to the UE. Buffered PDUs reported by the DDDS message are removed from memory as transmitted or successfully delivered PDUs.
