    Abstract: A display device may include a plurality of rows of pixels configured to display image data on a display and a first gate driver circuit. The first gate driver circuit may couple a first voltage source to a first node associated with a first gate of a first switch upon receipt of a start signal or a gate signal from another gate driver circuit and couple a first clock signal to a first gate line via the first switch after a first voltage of the first node exceeds a threshold. The threshold is associated with activating the first switch, such that the first gate line is configured to couple to a first row of the plurality of rows of pixels. The first gate driver circuit may then couple a second voltage source to the first node based on a second clock signal, such that the second voltage source discharges the first node.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for controlling an emission of the light emitting devices are described herein. The light emitting devices may be light emitting diode (LED) devices including μLED devices or organic LED (OLED) devices. Emission control of the LED may be performed using a micro-scale driving circuit (e.g., μDriver) containing drive transistors for constant current driving of the light emitting devices. One embodiment provides for a display driver hardware circuit comprising a thin film transistor (TFT) backplane, an integrated circuit including emission logic to cause an LED emission pulse, and a ramp signal generator to cause a voltage ramp having a slope based on an analog input voltage from the TFT backplane. The length of the LED emission pulse is related to the slope of the voltage ramp. In one embodiment the TFT backplane includes a low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) transistor and/or an Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) transistor.

    Abstract: A display may have an array of light-emitting diode pixels or pixels containing portions of a liquid crystal layer to which electric fields are applied using electrodes. A pixel with a light-emitting diode may have a drive transistor coupled in series with the light-emitting diode. A storage capacitor may be coupled to a gate of the drive transistor. A pixel with a liquid crystal portion may have a storage capacitor coupled to a given one of the electrodes in that pixel. Switching circuitry in each pixel may be used to load data from a data line into the storage capacitor of the pixel. The switching circuitry may include a semiconducting-oxide transistor coupled to an associated data line and a series-connected silicon transistor that is coupled to the storage capacitor.

    Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels. Display driver circuitry may supply data and control signals to the pixels. Each pixel may have seven transistors, a capacitor, and a light-emitting diode such as an organic light-emitting diode. The seven transistors may receive control signals over three control lines, may receive data over a data line, may receive a reference voltage from a reference voltage terminal, and may receive power from a pair of power supply terminals. The display driver circuitry may repeatedly operate each pixel in an initialization phase in which the drive transistor is preconditioned with on-bias stress, a data loading and threshold voltage sampling phase, and an emission phase.

    Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with an organic light-emitting diode display. The display may include row driver circuitry that provides an emission control signal at an output terminal to display pixels. The emission control signals may enable or disable light emission by the pixels. The row driver circuitry may include a bootstrapping capacitor that stores charge for boosting a gate signal at an intermediate node for a pull-up transistor above a power supply voltage. The row driver circuitry may include a pull-down transistor coupled to the intermediate node. The source terminal of the pull-down transistor may be coupled to the output terminal or an additional pull-down transistor may be stacked with the pull-down transistor to reduce leakage current. Charge pump circuitry may be coupled to the intermediate node to ensure that the intermediate node is maintained at a voltage above the power supply voltage.

    Abstract: An electronic device may include a display having an array of display pixels on a substrate. The display pixels may be organic light-emitting diode display pixels or display pixels in a liquid crystal display. In an organic light-emitting diode display, hybrid thin-film transistor structures may be formed that include semiconducting oxide thin-film transistors, silicon thin-film transistors, and capacitor structures. The capacitor structures may overlap the semiconducting oxide thin-film transistors. Organic light-emitting diode display pixels may have combinations of oxide and silicon transistors. In a liquid crystal display, display driver circuitry may include silicon thin-film transistor circuitry and display pixels may be based on oxide thin-film transistors. A single layer or two different layers of gate metal may be used in forming silicon transistor gates and oxide transistor gates. A silicon transistor may have a gate that overlaps a floating gate structure.
