摘要: Parallel cachelets are provided for a level of cache in a microprocessor. The cachelets may be independently addressable. The level of cache may accept multiple load requests in a single cycle and apply each to a respective cachelet. Depending upon the content stored in each cachelet, the cachelet may generate a hit/miss response to the respective load request. Load requests that hit their cachelets may be satisfied therefrom. Load requests that miss their cachelets may be referred to another level of cache.

摘要: The gasification of coal to produce a methane-rich product gas is accomplished through the controlled slow heating of particulate coal in a gasifier comprising two or more zones, whereby any significant decrease in the density of the coal particles is minimized and particle swelling and friability are significantly reduced, while the carryover of fines and deposition of tars in the product gas conduit are thereby minimized. The particulate coal heating rate in the gasifier zones is usually between about 10.degree. and 200.degree. F per minute. When the particulate coal is to be fed to the gasifier at elevated temperature, further improvements are achieved with swelling type caking coals through their pretreatment by preheating the coal at a slow rate between 10.degree. and 100.degree. F per minute up to about 800.degree. F in multiple fluidized beds. Any carryover of fines in the product gas stream from the uppermost zone of the gasifier is further reduced by utilizing either a solids separation step or a scrubbing step in the gas stream. The coal particles and/or tars thus recovered are returned to a high temperature zone of the gasifier.

摘要: The removal of particulate solids containing iron sulfides from hydrogenated coal liquids by magnetic separation is improved by pretreatment of the liquid with a gas mixture containing hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide. The coal-derived liquid is contacted with the gas mixture containing at least about 2 vol. % hydrogen sulfide, with the remainder of the gas mixture comprising principally hydrogen. Residue time for the liquid-gas contact should be at least about two minutes and temperature should be less than about 650.degree.F. The treated liquid is then passed through a magnetic field having strength of at least about 3000 gauss to achieve substantial removal of sulfur-containing solids from the liquid. The magnetic solids are then removed from the separator unit, e.g., by flushing using a light solvent oil, and the remaining liquid fraction carrying less-magnetic solids is passed on to further processing.

摘要: A wireless operating room communication system provides wireless transmission of video signals from a wireless camera or a wireless transmitter unit to a portable wireless display unit. A wireless multiple device control unit is in wireless communication with the transmitter unit, the display unit, and a plurality of surgical devices disposed within the operating room. Each of the surgical devices has a video receiver to obtain a video signal to synchronize the devices and units. The video transmitter unit has a video transmitter and the other units or devices have a non-video transmitter. The arrangement enables transmission of device control signals on the same channel as the video signal. In response to changes in bandwidth, the video transmitter unit reduces the video signal to enable transmission thereof to the video display unit, while maintaining robustness of the control signals.

摘要: This invention relates to a valve assembly for metal hydride hydrogen storage (MHHS) or chemical hydride hydrogen storage (CHHS) devices. The valve assembly comprises a body with an inlet connector for connecting to the MHHS or CHHS device, an outlet connector for connecting to an external device, a cavity in the body that is in gas communication with the inlet and outlet connectors, and a shut-off valve in the cavity that can be moved between an opened position that permits gas flow between the inlet and outlet connectors, and a closed position that denies said gas flow. The outlet connector has a first valve therein that is biased to remain closed when external pressure thereon is less than or equal to ambient pressure, thereby impeding at least atmospheric gas backflow into the cavity. The outlet connector can also have a second, one-way valve that permits gas flow out of the valve assembly only, as well as a bypass mechanism including a gas passage coupled to the cavity and upstream of the first and second valves, through which gas can be transmitted to the canister during charging.

摘要: A proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell end plate assembly provides an axial direction electric lead on an end plate of the assembly, and minimizes the contact resistance between an end fluid separator plate of a fuel cell stack and a current collector of the assembly. The current collector comprises an electrically conductive flat plate and a solid member connected together. The member goes through an opening on the end plate and provides an axial direction electric lead from the fuel cell stack. Means are provided to firmly contact the current collector and the fluid separator plate to maintain good contact across the entire area between the two components. The means of firmly contacting include moulding or bonding the separator plate and current collector together, or applying pressure to the separator plate and current collector such that firm contact is maintained between the two components.
