摘要: A hollow cylinder is provided on its interior surface with an annular array of a plurality of annularly spaced, longitudinal ridges. The ridges are held in place by at least one inner support disposed inside the cylinder. A respective longitudinally extending bar is disposed radially inwardly of each ridge and springs bias the bar radially inwardly. The bars engage the support ring. The resultant resilient connection between the support ring and the ridges urges the ridges against the interior surface of the shell. The inner support ring may be constructed of several joined arcuate segments.

摘要: Method and apparatus for shrinking a travelling web of fibrous material by transferring the web of fibrous material on a porous carrier web to a transfer web travelling at a lower velocity than the carrier web, curving the carrier web to a convex curvature toward the transfer web, at the transfer area, and employing a differential pressure to aid in the transfer of the web of fibrous material to the transfer web. Transversal shrinking is also accomplished by deviating the travel direction of the transfer web in the transfer area laterally at an acute angle from the travel direction of the carrier web. The fibrous material may also be transferred to a second transfer web which may also be at a lateral angle to effect transversal shrinking.

摘要: A press device for draining and/or smoothing, or shaping the surface and controlling the sheet structure of fibrous pulp webs with a surface weight of under 100 g/m2, such as the fibrous pulp webs used to make graphic papers. The device has a press area which includes at least one press nip through which, during operation, the fibrous pulp web is fed at a velocity of at least 1200 m/min, under simultaneous impingement by pressure. The press area includes at least two press zones subsequent to one another. The device is further characterized by a K value of at least 2.5 kPa·s·m. This K value is the product of L1 and Itot. L1 is the length of the first press zone, measured along the direction in which the web runs, and Itot is the total press impulse operating on the fibrous pulp web in the entire press area.

摘要: Shoe press unit and method for treatment of a fibrous pulp web. The shoe press unit includes at least one press shoe, an opposing surface, a flexible press belt guided over the press shoe, and at least one force element composed of a cylinder/piston unit supported on a carrier. The at least one force element presses the press belt against the opposing surface to form a press zone elongated in a web run direction, and the cylinder/piston unit include a pressure chamber having at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits successively positioned in the web run direction. Pressure fluid lines are coupled to respective ones of the at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits to separately supply pressure fluid to each cylinder/pressure subunit to impart a tilting moment long a tilt axis substantially perpendicular to the web run direction. The method includes supplying a pressure fluid to a first and second pressure fluid line from a common pressure fluid source at a source pressure, supplying pressure fluid through the first pressure fluid line at a first fluid pressure to a first subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, supplying pressure fluid through the second pressure fluid at a second fluid pressure to a second subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, and maintaining a sum of the first and second fluid pressures to be substantially equal to the source pressure.

摘要: A press arrangement of a paper or cardboard machine for the treatment of a fibrous pulp sheet in a press opening that is extended in the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet. The press opening is defined by two press surfaces, at least one of which is constructed of a flexible press sleeve that is guided over at least one press shoe. The flexible press sleeve is further able to press against the opposing press surface with the aid of the press shoe due to the creation of a fluid cushion between the press shoe and the press sleeve. The press shoe is thus able to be tensioned such that a resulting main press force is exerted in a direction that runs substantially perpendicular to the fibrous pulp sheet being guided through the press opening. A lever is designed to load the press shoe with an positive or negative force that acts on the press shoe substantially perpendicular to the resulting main press force. The additional positive or negative forces transfer a tilting moment to the press shoe whereby the press shoe tilts around a respective tilting axis. The tilting axis extends substantially perpendicular to the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet and in the transverse direction of the press arrangement. Thus, the additional forces can, substantially, independently influence the pressure profile in the press opening, set along the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet.

The press device may include a flexible roll jacket that runs around a stationary carrier, an opposing face that forms the elongated press gap with the flexible roll jacket, and at least one of a hydrodynamically and hydrostatically lubricated support element supported on the carrier. The support element may include a compression face adapted to a shape of the opposing face and at least one cloth belt guided through the elongated press gap. The support element may further include an entry face for the flexible roll jacket and for the cloth belt and positioned before the compression face in the travel direction of the sheet of material. A lubricant aspiration device is located before the support element in the travel direction, and is spaced from the roll jacket during normal operation.

A respective throttle in the form of a channel either between the feed channel and each of the pressure chambers, or one throttle channel communicating with several of the pressure chambers or a throttle channel communicating into the feed channel from the source of pressure fluid. The cross section of flow through the throttle channel is selected according to a formula, typically wherein the product d.sup.2 .times.n.sup.-1 is between 6 mm.sup.2 and 90 mm.sup.2 where d is the cross section of a throttle channel and n is the number of pressure chambers supplied by the respective throttle.

摘要: The invention relates to a roll press including at least three rolls forming several press nips for the treatment of a web of material. One press roll comprises a very flexible roll shell which is rotatable around a fixed support and is mounted on the support by at least one support element which has a concave support surface for defining a wide press nip with a cylindrical backing roll. The backing roll forms an additional press nip with at least one not sag-controlled roll. To obtain as uniform as possible a press nip between the backing roll and at least one additional roll which is without sag control, the circumference of the roll shell of the backing roll decreases axially towards its ends, i.e., that roll may be crowned. In addition, the backing roll may have its own roll shell support elements which are either in the press plane or are inclined slightly out of the press plane and/or the hydraulic pressure fluid supplied to the press roll and to the backing roll is adapted to supply a greater pressing force by the press roll. Optionally, a fourth press roll may form a nip with the additional roll. A felt passes through each nip.
