Abstract:
A code division multiple access user equipment is used in receiving a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum. Each received data signal experiences a similar channel response. A combined signal of the received data signals is received over the shared spectrum. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. A channel response is estimated. A column of a channel correlation matrix is determined using the estimated channel response. A spread data vector is determined using the determined column, the estimated channel response, the received combined signal and a fourier transform. Data of the data signals is estimated using the spread data vector.
Abstract:
A method of using a user equipment (UE) in a wireless time division duplex communication system. The system uses code division multiple access and communicates using communication bursts. Each communication burst has a unique channelization code and a midamble code which is uniquely related to the channelization code, each such midamble code being uniquely related to one or more channelization code. The UE receives communication bursts and detects each midamble code in a received communication burst. The UE determines the channelization codes related to each detected midamble based on a mapping of midamble codes to related channelization codes. The UE detects channelization codes in the received communication burst from among the determined channelization codes. The UE recovers data from the received communication burst based on in part the detected channelization codes. Where all midamble codes are uniquely related to one channelization code, the UE recovers data from the received communication burst based on in part the determined channelization codes without the additional channelization code detection step.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) for a wireless time division duplex communication system which uses code division multiple access. The system communicates using communication bursts, each communication burst having a unique channelization code and a midamble code which is uniquely related to the channelization code. Each such midamble code being uniquely related to one or more channelization code. The UE has an antenna for receiving communication bursts and a midamble detector which detects each midamble code in a received communication burst. A logic block determines the channelization codes related to each detected midamble based on a mapping of midamble codes to related channelization codes. A channelization code detector detects channelization codes in the received communication burst from among channelization codes determined by said logic block. A multiuser detection device recovers data from the received communication burst based on in part the channelization codes detected by said channelization code detector. Where all midamble codes are uniquely related to one channelization code, the multiuser detection device recovers data from the received communication burst based on in part the determined channelization codes without the need for the channelization code detector.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and apparatus for a base station to transmit a data field of symbols. A first data field of symbols is generated and encoded to produce a second data field having complex conjugates of the symbols of the data field. The first and second data fields are then spread, wherein the first data field is spread using a first channelization code and the second data field is spread using a second channelization code. Each of the channelization codes are uniquely associated with one of a first and second antenna. An RF signal including the first and second spread data fields is then transmitted over a first and second antenna.
Abstract:
The method employing weighted open loop power control in a base station is initiated by the base station receiving a communication and measuring its received power level. Based on, in part, the received communication's power level and the communication's transmission power level, a path loss estimate is determined. A quality of the path loss estimate is also determined. The transmission power level for a communication from the base station is based, in part, on weighting the path loss estimate in response to the quality of the estimate.
Abstract:
An outer loop/weighted open loop power control method controls transmission power levels in a spread spectrum time division duplex communication user equipment (UE). The user equipment receives a communication including an transmitted power level and measures its received power level. Based in part on the measured power level and the transmitted power level, a path loss estimate is determined. A quality of the path loss estimate is also determined. The transmission power level for a communication from the user equipment is based on in part weighting the path loss estimate in response to the estimate's quality.

Abstract:
Resource units are assigned within a cell of a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access. Each resource units is associated with a time slot and a code. For selected ones of the cell's resource units, the code interference level is measured during that unit's time slot and using that unit's code. The code interference level is compared to a threshold to determine whether that unit has an acceptable code interference level. Resource units are assigned to communications out of the unit's having acceptable interference levels.
