Abstract: The performance and ease of management of wireless communications environments is improved by a mechanism that enables access points (APs) to perform automatic channel selection. A wireless network can therefore include multiple APs, each of which will automatically choose a channel such that channel usage is optimized. Furthermore, APs can perform automatic power adjustment so that multiple APs can operate on the same channel while minimizing interference with each other. Wireless stations are load balanced across APs so that user bandwidth is optimized. A movement detection scheme provides seamless roaming of stations between APs.

Abstract: A method and a closed-loop antenna impedance tuning (CL-AIT) system are provided. An input reflection coefficient is determined. The input reflection coefficient and a threshold value are compared to determine whether the input reflection coefficient is greater than the threshold value. In response to determining that the input reflection coefficient is greater than the threshold value, an optimal tuner code is determined based on a tuner code search algorithm. The optimal tuner code is applied to configure the CL-AIT system.

For example, when an indicated power level to a high-frequency power amplifier is equal to or greater than a second reference value, envelope tracking is performed by causing a source voltage control circuit to control a high-speed DCDC converter using a detection result of an envelope detecting circuit and causing a bias control circuit to indicate a fixed bias value. The source voltage control circuit and the bias control circuit indicate a source voltage and a bias value decreasing in proportion to a decrease in the indicated power level when the indicated power level is in a range of the second reference value to the first reference value, and indicate a fixed source voltage and a fixed bias value when the indicated power level is less than the first reference value.

Abstract: Methods and systems for mitigating interference between different transceivers in a portable communication device. An electronic control circuit is configured to quantify an electromagnetic isolation between a first transceiver of a portable communication and a second transceiver of the portable communication device based on a detected radio frequency power coupled to the first transceiver from radio frequency signals transmitted by the second transceiver. A mitigation action is selected from a plurality of mitigation actions based on a magnitude of the quantified electromagnetic isolation. The selected mitigation action is then applied to the second transceiver to adjust at least one radio frequency characteristic of the second transceiver.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program is presented for scanning in a wireless network. A wireless device receives a downlink frame from two access points, the downlink frames indicating their respective transmission powers. The wireless device then determines the closest access point and a transmission power sufficient to reach that access point. Then, the wireless device carries out transmission of a probe request with the determined transmission power.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for determining a physical uplink power level for transmissions on a physical uplink channel. In one embodiment, a random access channel (RACH) uplink message is transmitted. The RACH uplink message includes a RACH message power level and/or a downlink pathloss figure. A downlink message including a power offset value is received. The physical uplink power level is set for transmissions on the physical uplink channel based on the power offset value. In another embodiment, a RACH uplink message is transmitted and a downlink message including a relative power offset value is received. The physical uplink power level for transmissions on the physical uplink channel is then set based on the relative power off set value.
