The material contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion and inside fogged silver halide emulsion as well as a disulfide compound. The disulfide compound is a compound represented by the general formula (I):A--S--S--B (I)wherein A and B independently represent an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a heterocyclic group or an amino group. The material can form images having high contrast and a high maximum density. Further, the material has high sensitivity to light and can be developed at a low temperature in a reduced amount of time.
