Abstract:
A removable duplex unit for an image forming peripheral having a simplex media feedpath and a reversible roller for moving media in a first direction through the peripheral and in a second direction through the duplex unit, includes an auxiliary housing adapted to be removably connected to the image forming peripheral, the auxiliary housing having therein a curved duplex media feedpath of a preselected length extending through the auxiliary housing in feeding communication with the reversible roller in the simplex media feedpath wherein the duplex feedpath in the auxiliary housing is passive and does not provide energy to media passing through the duplex media feedpath.
Abstract:
A media pick method includes receiving an initiation signal, causing a media pick system to complete a series of wait, forward move and reverse move pick actions, and causing the media pick system to complete the last of the series of forward move pick actions in conjunction with a feed roll motor's de-skew move. Reversing a direction of a pick motor enables a gear train to reset and allow momentum to build before engaging the paper on a second forward pick try. Repeats of pick pulses applies a proper balance of shear and normal forces on media.
Abstract:
A curry brush for grooming an animal includes a flexible, elastomeric body portion that has a socket defined therein for receiving a relatively rigid container. A plurality of flexible tines extend outwardly from the body portion. The container may be removed from the socket when desired for purposes such as refilling and/or cleaning and is preferably used to store a liquid such as shampoo. The container provides added longitudinal stiffness to the curry brush but permits a limited flexure to occur that is advantageous to a user both in gripping the curry brush and in controlling the curry brush during grooming.
Abstract:
An electronic device (100) with an image capture device (160) includes an illumination mechanism (170). The illumination mechanism (170) includes a light source with a light shaping mechanism adapted and constructed to shape light emitted from the light source into a generally ‘V’ shaped illumination pattern (300).
Abstract:
A retractable protective shield (20) includes a first stake member (22), a second stake member (24) and a sheet member (26) having a first end attached to the first stake member and a second end attached to the second stake member. The shield can further include a cylinder (30) enclosing a substantial portion of at least the first stake member. The sheet member can retract within the cylinder using a crank member (28) or can be self-retracting within the cylinder. For smooth extraction or retraction operation of the sheet member, the shield can include a bearing (32 or 33). The bearing can include a lock mechanism or the lock mechanism can be implemented similar to lock mechanisms used in window shades. Optionally, the 20 can include pocket or sleeve portions (34) within the sheet member to enable insertion of rigid insert members (36) that can optionally serve as additional stakes.
Abstract:
An apparatus, method, and system for holding a device along the side of a relatively tall pole. The apparatus includes, in one aspect, a hanger bracket adapted to removably mount to the pole. A frame to which the device can be mounted is attached to the hanger bracket. In one embodiment, the frame has first and second cross-arms and an elongated member spacing the cross-arms from each other. In another aspect, a second hanger bracket can be used to further connect the frame to a pole. A locking device can be used to lock at least one of the hanging brackets to the pole. In a further aspect of the invention, the device is a banner or sheet-like device. In another aspect of the invention, the bracket and/or banner is in combination with the pole and/or device.
Abstract:
A modular electrical outlet assembly including an outlet box having sides, a bottom, and an open end thereof adapted for attachment into a wall of a building. An outlet receptacle and a cover plate are formed together as a unit, the cover plate extending beyond the receptacle which is positionable within the outlet box. The receptacle has internal electrical conductors in alignment with two spaced arrays of plug-in apertures formed through the cover plate which are adapted to receive and come in electrical contact with the male prongs of an electric power cord plug. An attaching bracket is positioned and secured within the outlet box and includes spaced threaded apertures positioned opposite the open end of the outlet box. A ground aperture of each array is adapted to receive a male ground prong of the power cord plug and is aligned with a passage formed through the receptacle adapted to receive an elongated mounting fastener passing therethrough into threaded engagement with one threaded aperture whereby the receptacle is held within the outlet box with the cover plate held in position against the wall.
Abstract:
An acoustic transducer is disclosed that is capable of converting mechanical motion into acoustical energy may include a diaphragm and a support on one portion of the diaphragm. An actuator may then be provided that is operatively coupled to a second portion of the diaphragm. The support and actuator may be configured to be environmentally responsive to surrounding conditions of, e.g., heat and/or humidity which may then substantially maintain the diaphragm's acoustic performance.

Abstract:
A moveable media dam comprises a media dam rotatably connected to a dam shaft, the dam shaft extending from a lever. An arm has at least one camming member and the lever is engaged by the at least one camming member. The arm operably engages a gear train and further comprises an arm ring disposed over a gear of the gear train. The media dam is moveable between a first and second position. The device functions to clear a media feed zone and align leading edges of media sheets in order to inhibit multi-sheet feeds.
