摘要: The present invention relates to an arrayed recording apparatus having spare devices for replacing faulty disk drives. Each of the SCSI controllers in the arrayed recording apparatus connects to a driver/receiver and further connects to spare disk drives. Each of the SCSI controllers accesses the spare disk drive by setting a receive/enable signal effective to the driver/receiver. Unused ID numbers are assigned to the spare disks. If a disk drive develops a fault, the RAID controller RC requests the SCSI controller to replace the faulty disk drive with the spare disk drive. It is possible to attain the function of the hot stand-by system without comprising a specific spare controller.

摘要: An embroidery data processing apparatus includes an underlying stitch area outline device that generates an outline that defines the shape of an area to be stitched for underlying, within an area enclosed by an outline that defines the shape of an area to be embroidered. If the underlying stitch area outline has a self-intersecting portion, a dividing device divides the underlying stitch area outline into a plurality of segmental underlying stitch area outlines using the self-intersecting portion as a boundary. A point at which the underlying stitch area outline intersects itself is set as the stitching start or end point for a segmental underlying stitch area. A segmental underlying stitch data device generates stitch data for each of segmental underlying stitch areas defined by the segmental underlying stitch area outlines. An auxiliary underlying stitch data device generates auxiliary underlying stitch data for a connection between the segmental underlying stitch areas.

The apparatus includes a memory which stores a plurality of sets of closed-area data each of which represents a corresponding one of the closed areas; and a producing device for producing, based on the sets of closed-area data, the embroidery data to control the sewing machine to embroider each of the closed areas by starting and ending at at least one of (a) a substantially same position and (b) respective positions adjacent to each other. The process includes the step of producing the embroidery data to control the sewing machine to embroider each of the closed areas by starting and ending at at least one of (a) a substantially same position and (b) respective positions adjacent to each other. An embroidering product having an embroidery formed by filling with stitches a plurality of closed areas separate from each other, wherein the improvements include: each of the closed areas being embroidered by starting and ending at at least one of (a) a substantially same position and (b) respective positions adjacent to each other.

摘要: The present invention relates to an arrayed recording apparatus with reduced writing time. Various devices are used to write data without redundant data and to update the redundant data more efficiently during idle time. In one embodiment, a temporary write track is provided for each cylinder. When data are read, updated and re-written, the data are re-written to the temporary write track. Since the re-writing does not require a full disk rotation, the writing occurs quickly. Data in the temporary write track are relocated into the disk during an idle state, without being synchronized. Additionally, corresponding blocks in data areas can be used for writing data rather than a specified temporary write track. In order to improve re-writing time, the rotation of the disk drives can be synchronized to avoid full rotations between reads and writes, or cache memories for each disk can be used. When data is accessed from a host computer in a first unit size and from the memory devices in a second unit size, a buffer and cache can be used to limit the written data to those portions of the second unit size which have been changed. Each of these devices reduces the total access time for writing to arrayed recording devices.

摘要: A method and apparatus for producing vinegar by acetic acid fermentation utilizing an automatic alcohol analyzer for measurement of alcohol concentration in a fermenting broth, a feeding apparatus for feeding alcohol solution as raw material to the fermenting broth, and a control computer controllably coupled to the alcohol analyzer and to the feeding apparatus. The alcohol concentration in the fermenting broth is periodically measured by the automatic alcohol analyzer by a direction from the control computer at given intervals over a plurality of cycles of measurement; the control computer calculates a feed rate of alcohol solution as raw material to the fermenting broth so as to control the alcohol concentration in the fermenting broth at a desirable concentration on the basis of a difference between a measured alcohol concentration in the fermenting broth and a desirable alcohol concentration and the alcohol consumption rate calculated during each of the cycles by the control computer; and then the feeding apparatus is operated to control the feed rate of the alcohol solution responsive to a control signal generated by the control computer as a result of the aforementioned calculations, to thereby controllably feed alcohol solution as raw material to the fermenting broth.Alternatively, the control computer calculates a feed rate of alcohol solution as raw material to the fermenting broth so as to control the alcohol concentration in the fermenting broth at a predetermined desirable concentration according to acetic acid concentration on the basis of increasing rate of acetic acid concentration, acetic acid concentration and total concentration in the fermenting broth which are calculated by the control computer every cycle over a number of cycles at given intervals, the acetic acid concentration and total concentration being determined at a set point in an appropriate period during fermentation.

摘要: A disk unit including a control unit for controlling the stop position of a positioning electric motor and positioning a magnetic head operatively linked with the positioning electric motor on a predetermined one of data tracks on a magnetic disk, and positioning error adjustment unit for supplying analog signals to the control unit, wherein the analog signals are related to the positioning error detected by the magnetic head. The control unit includes a control circuit for causing an exciting current which goes high during a time interval T1 and goes low during a time interval T2 during a period T to flow in a first exciting coil of the motor and for causing exciting current which goes low during the same time interval T1 and goes high during the same time interval T2 to flow in another exciting coil adjacent to the first coil, as a function of the magnitude of the aforementioned analog signal; the duration of the time intervals T1 and T2 with respect to the period T is adjusted by the control unit.
