    Abstract: An electronic device, a method, and a computer program product provides freeze frame videos in place of a live video feed to a video communication session. A processor of the electronic device determines that a local participant is connected via the electronic device to an ongoing video communication session with second participants having corresponding second participant devices. The processor captures, via an image capturing device, local video encompassing the local participant. The processor determines a video segment of the local video to identify as a freeze frame video. The processor presents the freeze frame video to the video communication session in response to a trigger condition that pauses a presentation of live video feed of the local participant to the video communication session. The processor loops the presentation of the freeze frame video until an expiration of a threshold maximum time established for presenting the freeze frame video.

    Abstract: An electronic device, method, and computer program product optimize automatic backup of locally stored media content such as videos and images by identifying and locally caching low quality content rather than automatically backing up to reduce network storage. Image capturing device(s) of the electronic device generates media content of at least one of images and videos. A controller of the electronic device receives the media content from the image capturing device(s). The controller determines a quality value of the media content and stores the media content in a cache data structure in memory. The controller stores, in a digital camera image data structure in the memory, media content having a quality value that is greater than or equal to a minimum quality threshold level. The controller uploads, via a communication network to a network storage service, the portion of the media content stored in the digital camera image data structure.

    Abstract: A method provides non-mirrored preview of text-based demonstration objects in a locally captured video stream. The method includes identifying a demonstration object within the video stream. The demonstration object contains content that is best when pre-viewed in a non-mirrored orientation. The method includes spatially segmenting the video image into two or more segments, including a demonstration object preview (DOP) segment that encompasses the defined area with the demonstration object and at least one second segment encompassing a remaining portion of the video image. The method includes presenting a preview of the video image on the display device with the remaining portion of the video image mirrored within the preview and at least the DOP segment presented without mirroring in a correct spatial location relative to the remaining portion of the video image. A person presenting the demonstration object receives a non-mirrored presentation preview of the demonstration object.

    Abstract: A monitoring system incorporates, and method and computer program product provide a monitoring system that captures image stream of regions of interest based on identified facial cues of a person. A controller of the monitoring system receives a first image stream that encompasses a face of a person and a second image stream that encompasses surrounding object(s) and surface(s) viewable by the person. The controller detects a facial expression of the face. In response to determining that the facial expression is a mood associated expression, the controller determines, from the first image stream, an eye gaze direction of the person. The controller determines a region of interest (ROI) aligned with the eye gaze direction. The controller captures the second image stream and identifies an object contained within the ROI. The controller communicates a notification including the expression and the object within the ROI to an output device.

    Abstract: An electronic device (e.g., a smartphone or tablet) can be connected to another electronic device (e.g., a mobile device such as a laptop or a non-mobile device such as a desktop computer or workstation), allowing the electronic devices to be used together. When the electronic devices are connected, a single input control device (e.g., a trackpad on a laptop or a mouse) can be used to control user input for both devices.     Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method enable presentation of age-appropriate augmented reality (AR) content by determining an age of wearer of an AR display device. The electronic device communicatively connects an electronic device to the AR display device. In response to determining that the electronic device is communicatively coupled to the AR display, a controller of the electronic device monitors or checks for information that indicates, or correlates to, an age of a person wearing the first AR display device being below a threshold age. In response to receiving information indicating that the person is below the threshold age, the controller selects customized AR content, customized for the person based on the age of the person and any identified personal preferences of the person. The controller presents, at the AR display device, the customized AR content, customized based on the age of the person.
