摘要: The present invention involves an ink jet recording method involving providing a movable carriage and a plurality of ink jet recording heads disposed on the carriage, each ink jet recording head having a number of ink discharge energy generating elements and a corresponding number of discharge ports for recording a recording region, and applying driving signals to at least a fraction of the ink discharge energy generating elements corresponding to a fraction of the plural number of the discharge ports. Additionally, at the start of recording the number of the recording heads which are used during recording of a particular region is increased, and then at the conclusion of recording the quantity of recording heads which are used during recording of the particular region are decreased. This particular region has a length relating to the feeding pitch of the recording medium.

摘要: An image formation apparatus provided according to the present invention does not generate any printing density streaks in low density areas of an image and is therefore capable of outputting stabilized images without any density unevennesses and density streaks in any tonality. The apparatus is structured so as to correct density signals in accordance with a correction table 1 for indicating the recording characteristics of each of the recording elements of the head and the recording characteristics indicated by this correction table 1, and to drive the recording head in accordance with a correction table 2, which does not allow the fore-going corrections to be made when the density signals are lower than a given density, and the density signals corrected by this correction table 2.

摘要: A recording apparatus includes a recording head having plural recording heads, a test pattern recorded for recording a test pattern, a read-out for reading out the test pattern which was recorded by the test pattern recorder, a correction data setting device for setting shading correction data used when the recording head records based on the read-out data from the read-out, and a modification device that modifies the test pattern recorder and/or the correction data setting device in response to at least one of a recording mode of the recording apparatus, the state of the recording head, or the state of the test pattern recorder. Alternatively, the recording head can be driven by comparing identification information read out from a second memory with recording head identification information stored in a first memory, and selectively driving the recording head using second shading correction data read out from the second memory or first shading correction data read out from the first memory, depending upon whether two types of recording head identification information are equal.

摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a detachably mountable ink jet cartridge including an ink jet recording head for ejecting ink into a recording medium and an ink supply source containing ink for supply to the recording apparatus, which ink supply source has electrodes for passing an electric current through the ink in said ink supply source. A resistance-determining circuit determines a reference resistance between the electrodes by applying an electric current thereto when the ink jet cartridge is mounted to the apparatus and determines a test resistance between the electrodes by applying the same electric current thereto after a predetermined amount of recording. The reference resistance is used to calculate a threshold resistance, which is stored for comparison to the test resistance to judge whether or not the amount of ink in the ink supply source has dropped to a level unsuitable for recording.
