    摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a detachably mountable ink jet cartridge including an ink jet recording head for ejecting ink into a recording medium and an ink supply source containing ink for supply to the recording apparatus, which ink supply source has electrodes for passing an electric current through the ink in said ink supply source. A resistance-determining circuit determines a reference resistance between the electrodes by applying an electric current thereto when the ink jet cartridge is mounted to the apparatus and determines a test resistance between the electrodes by applying the same electric current thereto after a predetermined amount of recording. The reference resistance is used to calculate a threshold resistance, which is stored for comparison to the test resistance to judge whether or not the amount of ink in the ink supply source has dropped to a level unsuitable for recording.

    摘要: An ink jet recording device has a recording head with a first array of ink discharge ports for emitting a first ink and a second array of ink discharge ports arranged for emitting a second ink, the first and second inks being of different colors, a main scanning element for moving the recording head relative to a recording medium for a main scanning during an emission of the inks by the recording head, and a subsidiary scanning element for moving the recording head relative to the recording medium by a predetermined subsidiary scanning distance during a non-ink-emission by the recording head. The first and second arrays of ink discharge ports are arranged with a separation between arrays that is not less than the predetermined subsidiary scanning distance in the direction by the subsidiary scanning element.

    摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an ink jet head having an ink path communicating with a discharge opening for discharging ink; electrodes arranged in said ink path; a residual ink quantity detection means for detecting residual ink quantity in said ink path in accordance with a resistance value, current value or voltage value from said electrodes; and a correction means for correcting said resistance value, current value or voltage value in accordance with the difference in a resistance of the ink. This enables the correction means to compensate for different ink resistances and thus provide accurate residual ink detection even when different inks are used or ink resistance changes because of a change in ambient conditions.
