Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) bundling in half duplex frequency division duplexing (HD-FDD) systems are provided. One technique includes determining ACK parameter(s) to be used for acknowledging a bundled transmission that includes instance(s) of a channel across subframe(s). An indication of the ACK parameter(s) is signaled to a user equipment (UE). The ACK parameter(s) include a first ACK parameter that conveys a size of the bundled transmission and a second ACK parameter that conveys an amount of time for the UE to delay acknowledging a data transmission in an instance of the channel after receiving the data transmission. The UE may acknowledge the bundled transmission in accordance with the ACK parameter(s).

Abstract: A burden may be placed on a UE to measure CSI for combination(s) of transmission modes, and reporting may create an overhead burden. Aspects presented herein enable a UE to measure and report CSI for combinations of transmission modes in a manner that reduces such burdens. A UE receives signaling from a base station for a combination of transmission modes, e.g., comprising at least a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode. Then, the UE measures at least one reference signal for CSI feedback based on the combination of transmission modes. Various examples of measurements of CSI feedback are presented.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are presented that enables dynamic switching of transmission modes by a UE. A UE may be configured with a transmission mode. However, the configured transmission mode might not meet the needs of changing network conditions. Aspects presented herein enable a base station to assist a UE in switching between transmission modes. The base station may signal a combination of transmission modes to the UE, e.g., including at least a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode. The UE may then monitor for one or more DCI formats in order to determine whether to switch among transmission modes from the indicated combination of transmission modes

Abstract: The disclosure relates to drone user equipment (UE) indications that may be conveyed to a wireless network. In particular, a UE that has flight capabilities (i.e., capabilities to operate as an unmanned aircraft system) and optional further capabilities to report a current height level may indicate such capabilities to the wireless network. As such, the wireless network may differentiate the drone UE from other UEs that only operate on the ground. Furthermore, the optional current height level may enable the wireless network to differentiate among drone UEs operating at different heights and/or from other UEs that are operating on the ground. The wireless network may further use the information indicating the flight capabilities either alone or in combination with the optional height information to configure power control parameters, manage interference, provide mobility management functions, generate neighbor lists, control beamforming, or implement a radio resource configuration or management procedure.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to synchronization for standalone long term evolution (LTE) broadcast. In one aspect, a method is provided which may be performed by a wireless device such as a base station (BS). The method generally includes providing unicast coverage to one or more user equipments (UEs) in a unicast coverage area within a larger coverage area, transmitting unicast data in one or more subframes, and transmitting synchronization signals within one or more of the broadcast subframes, wherein the broadcast signals are transmitted as single frequency network (SFN) transmissions synchronized with transmissions from one or more other base stations providing unicast coverage within the larger coverage area.

Abstract: Various features presented herein facilitate early data transmission (EDT) in eMTC and NB-IoT. In certain aspects, a UE (e.g., an eMTC and/or NB-IoT type device), may receive an indication in a SIB from a base station that may enable EDT by the UE. The UE may transmit a random access request based on the SIB. The UE may further receive an MCS index in an RAR, and transmit a connection request (e.g., Msg3) to the base station based on the MCS index and the indication in the SIB. Some aspects described herein relate to an improved rate matching technique. In certain aspects, a UE may be configured to transmit a connection request message to a base station based on at least one of an increased number of RVs than a number of RVs for other transmissions from the UE or rate matching performed across more than one subframe.

Abstract: In an example, a method of communication of a UE may include establishing, by the UE, a connection with a base station. The method may include sending, by the UE to the base station, UE capability information in response to a trigger. The UE capability information may be based on whether one or more capabilities of the UE differs or is the same between a first coverage mode and a second coverage mode. In another example, a method of communication of a UE may include establishing, by the UE, a connection with a base station. The method may include sending, to the base station, first UE capability information in response to a first trigger. The method may include sending, by the UE to the base station, second UE capability information in response to a second trigger. The second UE capability information may be different from the first UE capability information.
