Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a communication system using beamforming are provided. The transmission method includes transmitting a control channel signal in a control channel region of a subframe using a first transmission beam of a base station. The transmission method also includes transmitting a data signal during a predetermined time period of a data region after the control channel region in the subframe using a second transmission beam determined based on the first transmission beam. The transmission method further includes transmitting a data signal in a remaining data region following the predetermined time period using a scheduled transmission beam.

Abstract: The present disclosure is related to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system to provide higher data rates than a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). A method for adjusting a receive beam gain by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes estimating a received signal quality value based on a reference signal received from a base station (BS), transmitting information about the estimated received signal quality value to the BS, comparing the received signal quality value with a minimum received signal quality value required for successful reception of data from the BS, and adjusting a receive beam gain to be used for data reception by turning on/off a radio frequency (RF) chain formed for each of antennas included in the UE based on a result of the comparison.

A method for receiving data includes selecting one of reception schemes, and receiving data based on the selected reception scheme, wherein the reception schemes includes a scheme of determining an integer matrix based on channel values estimated for channels, and decoding symbols received through the channels based on the determined integer matrix, and a scheme of detecting, for each channel, a sum of symbols received from each of the channels during a preset time based on integer matrixes which are determined based on each of the channel values, retransforming the sum of the symbols detected for each channel based on at least one of the integer matrixes, and decoding the retransformed sum of the symbols for each channel.
