摘要: A watercraft having a water propulsion unit driven by an impeller shaft which is powered by a four-cycle internal combustion engine is disclosed. The engine has a crankshaft which drives, via a transmission, the impeller shaft. The transmission is arranged so that the crankshaft of the engine does not contact lubricant in a lubricant reservoir of a lubricating system of the engine. In a first arrangement, the four-cycle engine includes an oil reservoir positioned at a lower portion of the engine. In this arrangement, a crankshaft of the engine extends along an axis above an axis along which the impeller shaft rotates, where the crankshaft and impeller shaft are in driving relation via a gear-type transmission. In a second arrangement, the engine is provided with a dry-sump type lubricating system with an oil reservoir positioned remote of the bottom of the engine, such as on the hull. In this arrangement, the engine is positioned adjacent the bottom of the watercraft, and the crankshaft extends in alignment with the impeller shaft.

摘要: A watercraft includes a hull construction that incorporates several aspects to reduce the operating noise of the watercraft. One structural aspect improves sound insulation about the engine compartment, and includes a seat design that facilitates such improvement. Insulating material is injected between the hull and inner walls and inserts. The seat design also incorporates air pockets to insulate an upper side of an engine compartment and aft compartment in which a water trap is located. The air supply and cooling system of the watercraft also uses resonator chambers to quiet engine and exhaust noise emitted through the ducts of the system. Another aspect involves insulating a portion of the exhaust system within the insulating material. These aspects of the hull construction each reduce the operating noise of the watercraft.

摘要: To convert gray-scale data of each pixel of image data into pulse-width data for each pixel, a RAM is provided. The RAM has nine pixel memory regions corresponding to nine pixels a to i for forming, for example, a 3×3 pixel matrix on the output image. In each of the pixel memory regions, there are stored pulse-width data items corresponding to values which are permitted for gray-scale data to have. Pulse-width data items in the pixel memory regions are slightly different from one another among pixel memory regions. Gray-scale data of each pixel of image data and address word composed of gray-scale data of each pixel of image data and coordinates of each pixel in the 3×3 matrix is supplied to the RAM. Thus, pulse-width data corresponding to gray-scale data is read from the pixel memory region so that a laser drive pulse having a pulse width corresponding to the read pulse-width data is generated.

摘要: Several embodiments of personal watercraft employing exhaust systems that incorporate not only a catalyst, but also an exhaust silencing device for silencing the sounds of the exhaust gases. The components are laid out in such a way that there will be minimum heat transfer from the exhaust gases to the engine compartment, and also so that there will be a cooling air flow across the exhaust system to further provide this result. In one embodiment, the silencing device is mounted transversely at the front of the engine, and in other embodiments it is disposed longitudinally to the rear of the engine. In all embodiments, the components are laid out to maintain good fore and aft and side to side balance.

摘要: An improved cushioning apparatus on a watercraft enhances the comfort of the ride, reduce rider fatigue, and cushion impact forces experienced by the watercraft hull, while allowing for convenient and easy access to various engine components for maintenance and repair of the engine. The cushioning apparatus absorbs at least a portion of any impact force which the rider experienced from the hull, as well as provides at least one degree of movement between the seated rider and the hull in order to cushion such impact forces. The cushioning apparatus may also isolate the rider, at least to some degree, from vibrations experienced by the hull. In one mode, the cushioning apparatus is connected to the watercraft by quick-disconnect fittings, which allow the seat and support frame to be easily moved away from an engine access opening for maintenance of the engine. Furthermore, a quick-access opening is disclosed which allows a rider to access various engine components without requiring that the cushioning apparatus be disconnected from the watercraft. Moreover, the cushioning apparatus increases the convenience and stability of the watercraft for heavier load conditions such as when multiple riders are riding on the watercraft.

摘要: An image forming apparatus that is capable of saving developing agents such as toner and ink by reducing the number of dots in an image while ensuring that the characters and figures in the image are nonetheless represented distinctly. Bit map data is read out from buffer 23 and a set of three-pixel bits are held in both a vertical and a horizontal direction, with the pixel of interest being located in the center. On the basis of this set of bits, upper/lower edge detector circuit 59 and right/left edge detector circuit 61 determine whether the pixel of interest is positioned in any one of the edges of the pattern in the image to be printed. Additionally, dot-saved pattern generator circuit 67 performs dot reduction on the bit for the pixel of interest. The edge detection signals from the edge detector circuits 59 and 61 are supplied to OR gate 65, where they are ORed with the bit for the pixel of interest that is supplied from the dot-saved pattern generator circuit 67 after dot reduction. The logic sum signal from OR gate 65 represents bit map data which, as compared with the initial bit map data, has the edges of the pattern left intact and has the internal region of the pattern subjected to dot reduction. Printing is executed using this logic sum signal.

摘要: A berthing type of watercraft having a main hull that is devoid of any propulsion unit and which defines a passenger compartment to receive a plurality of passengers and a berthing area to receive a smaller watercraft having a propulsion device for powering the watercraft when received in the berthing area. There is provided a pair of storage compartments on the opposite sides of the berthing area where riders may sit with their feet in the berthing area. A detachable table can be stored in a storage compartment on one side of the berthing area for use by the seated riders. A bridge also extends over the rear portion of the berthing area and provides an arrangemen for lifting the rear of the small watercraft out of the water. In addition, a canopy may be attached to the bridge to afford protection for the berthing area and the passengers' area.
