    摘要: Using a thermal writing device, an image is drawn on an image-forming sheet that includes a base and a layer of microcapsules, coated over the base, containing microcapsules filled with a dye. The microcapsules are squashed under a predetermined pressure at a temperature falling in a predetermined temperature range. The device includes an elongated body, having a tip-end, designed to be grasped by a user's hand, a heater movably provided on the tip-end of the body, and a spring provided in the tip-end of the body. The spring is associated with the heater to be elastically biased such that, when the tip-end of the body is pressed against the sheet, the heater is depressed against an elastic-force of the spring, thereby exerting the predetermined pressure on the sheet. An electrical driver that electrically energizes the heater to heat to a temperature falling in the predetermined temperature range is also provided.

    摘要: An ink transfer printer comprises a thermal head that has an ink reservoir provided on a top surface of a housing and a film provided on a bottom surface of the housing. A space is formed by the film and the bottom surface. An ink passage is formed in the housing to communicate the ink reservoir with the space. Porous glaze is provided on the bottom surface to face the ink passage. Heating elements are provided on the porous glaze. The ink kept in the ink reservoir is supplied to the space through the ink passage and the porous glaze. The film has perforated pores, which are substantially closed to block the ink when the heating elements are not heated. When the heating elements are heated, the film is deformed to eject the ink through the pores.

    摘要: A printer system comprises a thermal printer, an ink transfer unit and a thermal printing unit. The ink transfer unit and the thermal printing unit can be selectively mounted in the thermal printer. The ink transfer unit has an ink reservoir in which liquid ink is stored. The thermal printing unit has an ink ribbon. When neither the ink transfer unit nor the thermal printing unit is mounted on the thermal printer, an image can be formed on a thermal recording sheet only by the thermal printer. When the ink transfer unit is mounted on the thermal printer, ink stored in the ink reservoir is transferred onto a recording sheet to form an image thereon. When the thermal printing unit is mounted on the thermal printer, ink contained in the ink ribbon is transferred onto the recording sheet.

    摘要: In an image-forming system, an image-forming substrate is used that includes a paper sheet, and a microcapsule layer, coated over the paper sheet, which contains at least one type of microcapsule filled with a dye. Each microcapsule exhibits a characteristic such that, when a microcapsule is compacted under a given pressure at a given temperature, the dye seeps from the compacted microcapsule. A pressure/temperature applicator includes a roller platen, a thermal head having at least one arcuate bimetal element associated with the platen such that the substrate can be interposed between the platen and the thermal head, and an electrical energization system that electrically heats the arcuate bimetal element in accordance with image-information data. A degree of protrusion of the arcuate bimetal element varies in accordance with the electrical heating of the arcuate bimetal element such that a squashed pressure, to be exerted on the platen by the arcuate bimetal element, substantially equals the pressure exerted by the arcuate bimetal element when heated to the given temperature.

    摘要: An ink transfer type printer employs an ink holding member constituted by a porous body which contains ink therein and a film member made of a shape-memory resin which covers the porous body. The film member is provided with a plurality of through-holes. A film deforming member compresses the film member to collapse the through-holes and cools down the film member to the temperature lower than a glass transition temperature. A first heating member heats the selected parts of the deformed film member to the temperature higher than the glass transition temperature so as to restore the shape of the respective through-holes of the selected parts, and ink is transferred onto the recording sheet via the through-holes of the selected parts. Thereafter, a second heating member heats the overall parts of the deformed film member to the temperature higher than the glass transition temperature so as to totally restore the shape of the film member.
