Abstract:
A method and apparatus for ontology-based classification of media content are provided. With the method and apparatus, initial confidence values of classifiers in a hierarchical classification structure are modified based on relationships between classifiers. A confidence value for a classifier is boosted by a boosting factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value and confidence values of ancestor classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. A confidence value for a classifier is modified by a confusion factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value of the classifier and the confidence values of mutually exclusive classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. In this way, a more accurate representation of the actual confidence that media content falls within the classification associated with the classifier is obtained. From this improved classification mechanism, indices for media content may be generated for use in accessing the media content at a later time.
Abstract:
An image retrieval program (IRP) may be used to query a collection of digital images. The IRP may include a mining module to use local and global feature descriptors to automatically rank the digital images in the collection with respect to similarity to a user-selected positive example. Each local feature descriptor may represent a portion of an image based on a division of that image into multiple portions. Each global feature descriptor may represent an image as a whole. A user interface module of the IRP may receive input that identifies an image as the positive example. The user interface module may also present images from the collection in a user interface in a ranked order with respect to similarity to the positive example, based on results of the mining module. Query concepts may be saved and reused. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for data analysis and trend prediction. Multiple networks are combined for analysis to improve the accuracy of the evaluation by broadening the type of criteria considered. Relevant features are extracted from a dataset and at least one network is formed representing various relationships identified among the items contained in the dataset according to heuristics. Statistical analyses are applied to the relationships and the results output to a user via one or more reports to permit a user to evaluate each of the items in the dataset relative to each other. The trend of the relationships may be predicted based on the results of statistical analysis applied to the features over successive discrete time periods.
Abstract:
In accordance with one embodiment there is provided a method of improving the performance of a substrate cleaner of the type having a megasonic probe with a probe shaft extending generally parallel to a surface of a rotating substrate, and at least one dispenser for applying a cleaning liquid onto the surface of the substrate, wherein the megasonic probe agitates the liquid on the surface. The method comprising dissolving gas in the liquid before the liquid reaches the dispenser. In accordance with another embodiment, an apparatus for cleaning substrates comprises a rotary fixture which is adapted to support a substrate and rotate the substrate about a first axis, a probe having a probe shaft extending generally parallel to a surface of the substrate, and a megasonic transducer in acoustically coupled relation to the probe. The apparatus further comprises at least one dispenser that applies a cleaning liquid drawn from a cleaning liquid supply onto a surface of the substrate, and a gasifier operatively associated with the cleaning liquid supply. The gasifier causes gas to dissolve in the cleaning liquid.
Abstract:
A method and system for the megasonic cleaning of one or more substrates that reduces damage to the substrate(s) resulting from the megasonic energy. The substrates are supported in a process chamber and contacted with a cleaning solution comprising a cleaning liquid having carbon dioxide gas dissolved in the cleaning liquid in such amounts that the carbon dioxide gas is at a supersaturated concentration for the conditions within the process chamber. Megasonic energy is then transmitted to the substrate. The cleaning solution provides protection from damage resulting from the application of megasonic/acoustical energy. In another aspect, the invention is a system for carrying out the method. The invention is not limited to carbon dioxide but can be used in conjunction with any gas that, when so dissolved in a cleaning liquid, protects substrates from being damaged by the application of megasonic/acoustical energy.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a receiving unit in a wireless communication network comprising a processing unit being configured to generate Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feed-back messages for acknowledgement or negative acknowledgement of received data units in a wireless communication channel. In order to avoid signalling overhead, it is proposed that said processing unit is further configured to delay the generation of Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feedback messages until the processing unit has recognized irregularities in the data transmission or until the number (C) of delayed Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feedback messages has reached a threshold value.
Abstract:
A method (S400); apparatus, and computer program product, wherein it is determined whether a transmission resource request has been received from a receiving end to be scheduled for retransmission feedback (S405). Then, an available transmission resource is allocated to a receiving end (S406) for which retransmission data is pending for retransmission feedback and from which no request for transmission resource has been received (S4005).
Abstract:
A processing system may receive an example image for use in querying a collection of digital images. The processing system may use local and global feature descriptors to perform a content-based image comparison of the digital images with the example image, to automatically rank the digital images with respect to similarity to the example image. A local feature descriptor may represent a portion of the contents of a digital image. A global feature descriptor may represent substantially all of the contents of that digital image. The global feature descriptor may be content based, not keyword based. Intermediate and final classifiers may be used to perform the automatic ranking. Different intermediate classifiers may generate intermediate relevance metrics with respect to different modalities. The final classifier may use results from the intermediate classifiers to produce a final relevance metric for the digital images. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention describe processing a first image data and 3D point cloud data to extract a first planar segment from the 3D point cloud data. This first planar segment is associated with an object included in the first image data. A second image data is received, the second image data including the object captured in the first image data. A second planar segment related to the object is generated, where the second planar segment is geometrically consistent with the object as captured in the second image data. This planar segment is generated based, at least in part, on the second image data, the first image data and the first planar segment.Embodiments of the invention may further augment the second image data with content associated with the object. This augmented image may be displayed such that the content is displayed geometrically consistent with the second planar segment.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for improving the speed of chip routing for integrated circuit blocks with multiple connections. In some embodiments, the method may include creating a layout abstract for a first block and a second block of the integrated circuit, where the first and second blocks are coupled together via a plurality of connections. The method may further include determining whether the number of connections in the plurality exceeds a threshold, and in the event that the number of connections exceeds the predetermined threshold, representing a first subset of the plurality as a first logical connection.
