    摘要： An autoxidizable hair preparation capable of coloring hair when applied thereto and exposed to the atmosphere comprising N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine or an acid addition salt thereof and a triol selected from the group consisting of 1,2,4-benzenetriol and 2,4,5-trihydroxytoluene. The preparation is applied at multiple spaced intervals of time until the desired color build-up is attained. Also prepares the composition by preforming a solution of the triol by storing the corresponding triacetate in acid solution for a period of time then adding the N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine.

    摘要： A thermal hair styling appliance includes interchangeable attachments, such as hair retaining clips, comb-brush clips or other types of attachments which are selectively attached to an operating button that is pivoted on a handle of the appliance. The appliance further includes a main electric heater which is controlled by a thermostat which, in turn, responds to a pair of auxiliary heaters. By selectively energizing the auxiliary heaters, the temperature of the main heater is controlled. A versatile hair styling appliance is thus provided. According to one embodiment, the operating button includes at least one projection which engages a slot in the end of the attachment being used. The attachment is held within the button by detents which engage other slots in the end of the attachment.

    摘要： The present invention is directed to the preparation of an aqueous hair dyeing composition containing an effective hair dyeing amount--at least 2 mg/ml--5,6-dihydroxyindole (DHI). An aqueous hair dyeing composition is produced by reacting under essentially anaerobic conditions dopa or a salt thereof with an alkali metal ferricyanide oxidant in an aqueous reaction medium to obtain dopachrome, and permitting the dopachrome to undergo rearrangement in the aqueous medium to form 5,6-dihydroxyindole, said rearrangement being conducted in the substantial absence of oxidant, the aqueous medium being buffered by sufficient buffering agent to maintain a pH of from about 4.5 to about 9 for the reaction medium throughout the series of reactions that take place thereafter, removing the ferrocyanide species present in the aqueous system, and lastly, charging the composition into a suitable container.
