    Abstract: Compounds, pharmaceutical compositions, and methods for treating cancer, in particular brain cancer, are provided, including amphiphilic fatty acid/alcohol ethers (AIPs) comprising endocannabinoid and FABP motifs covalently linked to a beta-adrenoreceptor antagonist motif in one molecule. The invention includes methods for inhibiting growth of brain cancer cells by contacting the compound(s) with brain cancer cells. The invention provides a method for treating both brain cancer and brain cancer metastases, and for suppression of regrowth of brain cancer cells after radiation, surgical treatment, or chemotherapy of brain cancer. The invention also comprises an optimized chemical synthesis of the AIP compounds and methods of using the compounds, alone or in combination with another agent, for suppressing the growth of brain cancer cells, and enhancing survival of normal CNS cells, or improving recuperation from radiation, surgical or chemotherapy.

    Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure pertains to methods of making various noble metal nanoprisms, e.g., gold nanoprisms. In various aspects, the methods can comprise incubating, under dark conditions, a growth solution comprising: (a) a plurality of gold seed structures; (b) a gold precursor, and (c) a photocatalytic intermediary, such that during the incubating step multiply-twinned gold seed structures in the growth solution are preferentially enlarged. The disclosed methods can comprise separating the multiply-twinned gold seed structures from the growth solution based upon the size of the gold seed structures to produce an enriched growth solution. In some aspects, the methods comprise irradiating the enriched growth solution to produce the gold nanoprisms. In some aspects, the disclosed nanoprisms comprise silver.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes digital watermark detection systems and methods. In one such system, a plurality of intellectual property cores are integrated on a system-on-chip, such that the intellectual property cores comprise a first intellectual property core and a second intellectual property core. The system further includes a first network interface connected to the first intellectual property core that can encode a first digital watermark into a packet stream designated for the second intellectual property core. The system further includes a second network interface connected to the second intellectual property core that can receive the packet stream and decode the packet stream to generate a second digital watermark. The second network interface is further configured to perform a validation test on the packet stream and deliver the packet stream to the second intellectual property core when the first digital watermark is determined to match the second digital watermark.

    Abstract: Wireless power transmission (WPT) systems are provided. For example, the WPT system can use one or more power transmitting coils and a receiver for electromagnetically coupled wireless power transfer. The electrodynamic receiver can be in the form of an electrodynamic transducer where a magnet is allowed to oscillate near a receiving coil to induce a voltage in the receiving coil, a piezoelectric transducer where the magnet causes a vibrating structure with a piezoelectric layer to move, an electrostatic transducer where movement of the magnet causes a capacitor plate to move, or a combination thereof. An alternating magnetic field from the transmitting coil(s) excites the magnet in the receiver into mechanical resonance. The vibrating magnet then functions similar to an energy harvester to induce voltage/current on an internal coil, piezoelectric material, or variable capacitor. Embodiments utilize magnetic coupling and electromechanical resonance for safe, spatially distributed, low-frequency power delivery to portable devices.
