摘要： The present invention relates to a canopy device, in particular an umbrella or parasol, comprising: a rod; a canopy of flexible material connected to the rod close to an end thereof; operating means displaceable along the rod for closing or opening the canopy; and means for tensioning the canopy, which canopy tensioning means comprise a set of first tensioning members and a set of second tensioning members, wherein the first tensioning members are each pivotally connected with one first outer end to the rod and extend therefrom along the canopy to a position close to the periphery thereof, and wherein the second tensioning members are each pivotally connected with a first outer end to the operating means and are connected with a second outer end to a corresponding first tensioning member, wherein the connection between the first and second tensioning members is arranged closer to the periphery of the canopy than to the rod, and is preferably situated substantially close to the periphery of the canopy.

摘要： An umbrella has a shaft having upper and lower ends, a slide piece, and a head piece. One of the pieces has an upper part and a lower part having faces that are engaged together and that form a plurality of seats of predetermined diameter spaced angularly about the shaft. The parts are also formed at each seat with a radially outwardly open and axially extending notch of an angular width substantially smaller than the diameter of the respective seat. They are fixed together at the faces. Respective rib or strut elements each have a shaft of a width at most equal to the notch width and a head of a diameter greater than the seat diameter. The heads are received in the seats and the shafts project outward from the respective seats through the respective notches. A standard canopy is fitted over the ribs outside the head piece.

摘要： An umbrella includes a notch member aligned with an elongate stem along an axis for connection with a rib assembly, a canopy mounted on the notch member, and a runner slidably sleeved on the stem and connected to a stretcher assembly to stretch or retract the rib assembly. First and second coupling members are respectively secured to the notch member and the stem, and have coupling ends swivelable and frictionally rotatable relative to each other about the axis. A retaining member is disposed to prevent relative displacement of the coupling ends along the axis. As such, the canopy can be forced to rotate relative to the stem about the axis once subjected to a relatively strong external force.

The hub has a corresponding plurality of pairs of bores defined therein. One of the bores of each pair is used for deploying the ribs in a configuration to support the cover and the other for storing the ribs. One of the bores of the pair is inclined relative to a horizontal plane defined by the hub, and the other is vertical to a horizontal plane. Each rib has an end disposable into the hub and a spring lock to selectively lock into the hub. The pair of bores coact with the spring lock to selectively lock the rib in the bores in both the deployment and storage configurations.

摘要： An umbrella crown includes a crown body having a base plate with a threaded cylindrical projection extending from a first surface of the plate for engaging an inner-threaded cap. A circular groove is defined in the first surface of the base plate and a corresponding rib is formed in the cap whereby the rib can be received in the groove for interposing and securing an edge of a canopy therebetween. A conic projection extends from a second surface of the base plate and has a reduced free end with a bore defined therein to be tightly fit over a central post of the umbrella. A plurality of radially-extending slits is defined in the conic projection with a cross bar formed in each slit. Ribs that support the canopy have J-shaped ends respectively received in the slits and engaging the cross bars for forming pivotal joint between the ribs and the crown. The ribs are maintained in position by the central post. A slot is defined in the conic projection by two opposite side walls. A pulley having a shaft is received in the slot with the shaft rotatably supported in notches defined in the side walls. A rope is movably received in the central post with an end extending out of the post under the guidance of the pulley for driving a runner that is connected to the ribs by stretchers to move along the central post to open/close the umbrella.
