The cutting insert includes: upper and lower surfaces; a side surface; a cutting edge; and a rake portion on the upper surface. The cutting edge includes major and minor cutting edges that are convex toward outside of the main body portion. The minor cutting edge has a curvature radius smaller than a curvature radius of the major cutting edge. The rake portion is inclined and approaches the lower surface as moving from the major cutting edge toward inside of the main body portion and is located along the major cutting edge. An inclination angle of the rake portion becomes smaller as moving from a part continuous with one end of the major cutting edge toward a part continuous with center of the major cutting edge.

    摘要: An insert comprises an insert main body having an upper surface and a plurality of side surfaces, a cutting edge located between both ends of a ridge which is between at least one side surface among the side surfaces and the upper surface, a high-positioned portion located at one end of the ridge, and a low-positioned portion located lower in the thickness direction of the insert main body than the high-positioned portion and located at the other end of the ridge. The cutting edge comprises a first flat cutting edge having substantially the same height as the high-positioned portion, and a tilted cutting edge having a height decreasing from the high-positioned portion toward the low-positioned portion. On at least the one side surface, at least one groove extends from the side surface to the upper surface to divide the cutting edge by the groove, and at least the one groove is formed at a region including an intersection of a first extension line formed by imaginarily extending the first flat cutting edge with a second extension line formed by imaginarily extending the tilted cutting edge. This enables reduction in the occurrence of vibration during cutting, and the chipping.

    摘要: A double-sided cutting insert with a plurality of indexable convex cutting edges can have a top face and a bottom face, at least three convex cutting edges on each face connected by at least three nose corners, at least three peripheral side surfaces extending from each face toward a virtual middle plane; and a common lateral seating surface on each peripheral side surface. Each convex cutting edge can have at least a curved cutting edge region, and can further have a primary substantially straight cutting edge region intermediate the curved cutting edge region and the nose corner. Each peripheral side surface can further have a primary planar facet associated with the primary substantially straight cutting edge, and each face may also be single-handed in same direction. Additionally, in various embodiments, the top and bottom faces of the cutting insert may be formed such that they are twisted or rotated with respect to each other. Further, additional cutting edges, edge regions, and/or surfaces may be included in a cutting insert in various embodiments. In such embodiments, the cutting insert or inserts may provide a powerful ramping function during milling operations.

    摘要: Disclosed is a cutting tool for milling works which employs a cutting insert. The cutting tool for milling works employs a cutting insert. By forming a concave nick cutting edge on the lateral surface of the cutting insert, it may cut a chip in a short form in case of high depth of cutting to shorten the effective cutting edge, so as to reduce a friction and a cutting resistance, thereby increasing the life span of the cutting tool as well as to facilitate a chip disposal and reduce the cutting resistance, so as to increase a feed rate at a high depth of cutting, thereby enhancing the productivity of the cutting works. By forming concave recesses on the upper and lower surfaces of the cutting insert it may reduce the cutting resistance between the chip being short cut by the concave nick cutting edge and the upper and lower surfaces. By forming a concave nick cutting edge at a major cutting edge of the cutting insert it is possible to perform a nick cutting edge function without deforming the seat lateral surface of a seat portion to couple the cutting insert with a cutter body.

    摘要: The invention relates to a milling head for milling chamfers, especially for a mobile chamfer miller, comprising successive seats for blanking dies, said seats having a position in which the blanking dies with a leading edge angle of between 40 and 75° operate respectively on average with a positive effective cutting angle of at least 6° and a clearance angle of at least 6°, and are provided for a border comprising blanking dies with a staggered arrangement of the cutting edges, such that respectively only one cutting edge length of 15 mm, preferably 12 mm, at the most, is active. Said measures increase the cutting performance of the milling head. The reduced cutting edge length can be formed on a long blanking die instead of using a shorter blanking die, in such a way that the cutting edge is interrupted by cavities or other e.g. flat triangular recesses on the surface of the blanking die. The staggered arrangement is then comparatively small.
