An outer die tooling is connected to the first ram. The second ram comprises a second cam follower bracket and second set of cam followers. An inner knockout tooling is connected to the second ram. The first set of cam followers is configured to follow a first cam surface. The second set of cam followers is configured to follow a second cam surface. The first ram is connected to the second ram on a slide block. As the first and second sets of cam followers follow the first and second cam surfaces, the inner knockout tooling and the outer die tooling move toward or away from an article to be worked on.

The air manifold device is connectable to the turret main body and provides pressurized air through a pressurized air pathway system. The pressurized air pathway system includes a turret air passage extending from the air manifold through the turret body to the sliding ram assembly, and a ram air passage that supplies the pressurized air to an article in the machine assembly. A valve mechanism is positioned between one end of the turret body air passage and a first end of the ram air passage. The valve mechanism includes a slidable disc that seals the connection between the turret body air passage and the ram air passage.

    摘要: A multiple spindle bar machine (10) includes in its preferred embodiment three main spindles (66) that are opposed by three counterspindles (106) of substantially identical construction. The main spindles (66) can be indexed about the Z axis. The counterspindles (106) cannot be indexed, but they can translate along the Z-axis. Each main spindle (66) is hollow and contains a workpiece-grasping collet chuck (68). At least one of the counterspindles (106) contains a workpiece-grasping collet chuck (108). The main spindles (66) are rotated in unison, but the counterspindles (106) are rotated independently by computer-controlled motors. In the preferred embodiment, three tool-carrying turrets (20A, 20B, 20C) are radially spaced around the machine at three work stations. Preferably, the turrets (20A, 20B) located at the first and second workstations can be moved along both the X and Z axes, while the turret (20C) located at the third workstation can be moved along the X axis. A slide-mounted cutoff (22) that moves along the X axis is located at the third workstation.

    摘要: A dual machining clutch apparatus (10) for a multiple spindle machine has at least two stations (20) for holding work pieces (22, 23). A first machining tool (24) is guided on a first slide (26). A controller (34) is notified that the earlier of the first or second machining tool has reached its selected position for completion of its machining operation. The respective machining clutch is de-energized, allowing its shaft to free-wheel. The later machining tool continues to perform its machining operation. As the later machining tool reaches its selected position for completion, the threading clutch for the earlier machining tool is engaged and the high speed clutch is engaged. The machining tools are then backed off the work piece to return to their original positions. The machining operation is complete and the main drum may index.
