摘要: A knitted fabric having a set up portion comprising stitches on a front side and stitches on a back side formed by a knitting yarn for forming the knitted fabric extending zigzag from a stitch on the front side to a stitch on the back side and vice versa, wherein the knitted fabric has a set up structure wherein part 15a of the knitting yarn extending from the respective stitches on the front side to the respective stitches on the back side and part 15b of the knitting yarn extending continuously from the respective stitches on the back side to the respective stitches on the front side are crossed with each other, thereby providing less slackness in the set up portion than in a conventional set up portion.

摘要: A method of knitting single knit fabrics on a circular knitting machine such that the fabric has improved elasticity, soft hand and drapeability and including controlling two types of needles arranged alternately in the cylinder and sinkers arranged in the sinker dial through four processes in which alternate needles are raised to the knitting level in the first process and intervening needles are raised to the tucking level and an old loop has cleared the latch on each needle and a previously fed yarn is held in the hook of each intervening needle, a first ground yarn is fed to the alternate and intervening needles and the needles are lowered to a high welt level for the alternate needles so that the old loop is not knocked over and a low welt level for the intervening needles so that the old loop is knocked over and a new double yarn stitch loop is formed. The levels to which the alternate and intervening needles are raised are reversed in the third process.

摘要: This invention relates to a single- or double-Jersey knitted fabric which not only has a closed starting seam, but also a closed terminal seam (24, 24', 24") which can follow a line of any shape, and a method of making the same on a machine having stitch-forming elements and having an arrangement for transferring and racking the formed stitches. The closed terminal seam (24) of the fabric may for example be formed by transferring the last terminal seam stitch (16), then racking the same, and finally transferring it to the next seam stitch and then knitting the two transferred stitches with a thread (25, 22) which may be either a separate thread or one used to form the remainder of the fabric. The linking stitch so formed (31) is then racked again and the next-succeeding selvedge stitch transferred thereto before being knitted with the thread into a further linking stitch.

摘要: Run-proof courses are formed by providing alternate needles of a circular knitting machine with loops formed of independent yarns and thereafter pulling one of said yarns from said alternate loop and interlooping the pulled yarn through an adjacent loop.
