    摘要: An extensible mast is shown which is erected from a portable base having a plurality of tape reels mounted thereon. The tape reels are angularly oriented on the base with respect to a common, vertical axis, and each of the tape reels is adapted to receive a resilient metal tape having longitudinal edges for winding and unwinding the tape. A plurality of guide rollers on the base receive the respective longitudinal edges of the metal tapes and orient the tapes whereby the tapes are fed upwardly in plane parallel to the vertical axis and at an angle to each other to form a rigid structure. A geared winding mechanism is located above the guide rollers and includes a plurality of rotatable windings which rotate about the vertical axis and wrap and wrap material about the rigid structure to reinforce the structure as it is being erected.

    摘要: A support structure having any number of sides from three to round that includes a lattice structure formed from a flat plate assemblage of components preferably constructed by appropriately cutting slots at intervals in a flat plate so as to form corner and intermediate gusset plates with connected braces, which braces are then each preferably bent along their longitudinally axis into angle braces, the groups of corner and intermediate gusset plates and braces making up sections or tiers of the lattice structure, the tiers nesting alongside on another, such that, when the structure is erected by lifting or elevating the center thereof, the angle braces bent at their joints with the gusset plates telescoping the assemblage into a three dimensional longitudinally tapered structure. The structure is then supported at corners of each tier between vertical legs that connect at intervals to the corner gusset plates of each tier of the tapered structure. Alternatively, the joints between the gusset plates and braces can be upset for a permanent structure or can be hinge couplings where the structure is intended to be later collapsed back to its original flat state for movement and subsequent reassembly.Additionally, a practice of the present invention can include forming a truss lattice structure by also slotting a rectangular flat plate to form interconnected gusset plates and braces, which braces are then cold formed into angle braces, and the truss lattice structure is erected by pulling apart the opposite rectangular plate ends, the braces bending at their upset joints to the gusset plates, with supports then secured at intervals to outside or edge gusset plates to form a truss.

    摘要: A foldable and curvilinearly extensible structure fabricated from a plurality of foldable and extensible base modules. Each base module is fabricated from six rigid members swivelly connected end-to-end in a closed figure with intersecting rigid members being pivotally connected. The length of the first and fourth rigid members is selectively predetermined to provide the overall triangular configuration of the structure with a generally isosceles triangular configuration. Importantly, the placement of pivots in the second and fifth rigid members and the third and sixth rigid members is predetermined by the length to the midpoint of the first and fourth rigid members. A plurality of base modules are selectively interconnected at adjacent swivels to thereby provide the enlarged, foldable and curvilinearly extensible truss-like structure. A plurality of base modules may be selectively interconnected side-by-side and also in an end-to-end configuration to form an elongated, three-dimensional structure which folds into a relatively flat profile while, simultaneously, being extensible at a relatively high ratio and in a generally curvilinear contour. The respective rigid members can also be configurated as curved rigid members to thereby provide a generally toroidal contour to the curvilinearly extensible structure.
