    摘要: The invention relates to a method and a circuit for igniting a gas flow in a fully automatic manner. The aim of the invention is to maintain the necessary current consumption so low that an integratable voltage source can be used. To this end, once an electronic control unit has been activated, a thermoelectric safety pilot valve (2) is opened by an electromagnet which is temporarily excited by a rush of current, is maintained in the open position by a safety pilot magnet (6) by means of a holding current provided by a voltage source (10), and the escaping gas is ignited. Once a thermoelectric couple (4) is provided for the necessary holding current, the voltage source (10) is switched off. In the event of damage, the method is automatically interrupted.

Ground reference compensation can be desirable when a device or component of an appliance is powered by a higher power source, and is controlled by a controller that is powered by a lower power source. In such a situation, a voltage difference can develop between the ground references of the higher and lower power sources, which can affect accurate control of the device or component. In some cases, a measure related to the voltage difference between the ground references is first determined, and then the power/voltage that is ultimately delivered to the device or component is adjusted or compensated based, at least in part, on the determined difference.

    摘要: A controller is provided for controlling the operation of a gas-fired water heating appliance. In one embodiment of the present invention, a controller is provided that comprises a switching means for connecting an electrical power source to an igniter for igniting gas, a voltage sensing means for sensing the voltage value of the electrical power source, and a processor that is capable of determining whether the power source is of a first rated voltage level or a second rated voltage level. The processor is capable of responsively selecting an appropriate switching sequence from a look-up table having a plurality of switching sequences corresponding to a plurality of voltage values for either the first rated voltage or the second rated voltage, where the processor controls the switching means based on the selected switching sequence to effect switching of power to supply an average predetermined voltage to the igniter that will heat the igniter to a desired temperature.

The spark generating member generates a spark in response to a spark signal and is positioned adjacent to the flame end of the burner member. The controller provides a valve open signal to the valve to control a flow of gas to the burner member, provides a spark signal to the spark generating member to generate a spark that ignites the flow of gas, receives a flame sense signal from the flame sensing member related to the state of the flame, and provides a valve closed signal to stop the flow of gas when the flame sense signal indicates no flame is present.

Various circuitry, and bypass gas flow arrangements, are further shown to increase the efficiency of ignition of the burner assembly, when started.

    摘要: A water heater is disclosed having a main burner for heating a heat exchanger and a standing burner, and is also provided with an electromagnetic safety valve which is opened by a manual operation member and which is kept in its valve open condition by the electric current from a thermocouple element exposed to the standing burner and a water pressure sensitive member such that it opens in response to a supply of water to the heat exchanger (that is, the water flow is turned on). Both the electromagnetic safety valve and the water pressure sensitive valve are interposed in a fuel passage connected to the main burner. A standing burner fuel passage is connected on one end to the standing burner and is connected at its other end to a point located in between the two valves. Additionally there is provided a control circuit which has a capacitor, a discharging circuit for the capacitor having a solenoid operating the electromagnetic safety valve, and a changeover switch adapted to be switched by the manual operation member for charging or to the discharging circuit for discharging. A subsidiary discharge circuit for the capacitor is further provided having a switch which is interposed therein, and adapted to be closed when the supply of water to the heat exchanger is on. The subsidiary discharging circuit is in parallel with the foregoing discharging circuit, and a resistance is interposed between the two discharging circuits. Thus, when the control switch is closed and the subsidiary discharging circuit conducts, the solenoid does not become actuated and the electromagnetic safety valve is closed.
