摘要: Certain embodiments of the invention may be found in an ultra low power dosimeter assembly. The ultra low power dosimeter assembly may comprise a low power voltage source and a table circuit. The table circuit may be adapted to convert an input voltage to a second voltage level. The second voltage level may correspond to noise dose. The ultra low power dosimeter assembly may also comprise a switch adapted to trigger a control circuit. The control circuit may provide progressive attenuation of an output signal as the second voltage level increases. In certain embodiments, the control circuit may also be adapted to send one or more warning signals to a user of the ultra low power dosimeter. The one or more warning signals may be sent when the control circuit determines the second voltage level has reached one or more pre-determined threshold voltage levels.

摘要: A method and apparatus for monitoring and controlling exposure to noise related to a headset are described. The method includes sampling an input sound signal to produce samples of the input sound signal, calculating from these samples a headset sound level corresponding to the input sound signal, calculating cumulative exposure of a headset user to the headset sound level at a specific point in time, and calculating a gain adjustment for the input sound signal to ensure that the total sound to which the headset user will be exposed during a selected time period is within the regulatory maximum level. Advantageously, the method and apparatus of the present invention allow accurate real-time monitoring of cumulative exposure to headset noise and real-time adjustment of headset gain to ensure compliance with regulatory maximum sound exposure levels.

摘要: A portable acoustic intensity measuring device comprising a pair of electroacoustic transducers at a positioned predetermined distance from one another. The measuring device utilizes analog summing, subtraction, integration and multiplier means for measuring an acoustic intensity vector midway between the two electroacoustic transducers. The acoustic intensity measuring device further comprises error correction means connected in circuit with a preamplifier means and a meter means. The error correction means includes switching means comprising a first switch connected in circuit with the preamplifier and summing means and subtraction means and a second switch connected in circuit with the multiplier and the meter for simultaneously switching the first and second preamplified analog signals at the summing input and subtraction input and for simultaneously switching the polarity of the acoustic intensity signal at the meter. The error correction means eliminates any errors induced by phase mismatch and/or any inherent DC component of the device.

摘要: This electronic noise detector is an instructional device for classroom teachers to use in achieving academic excellence in educating students. Academic excellence is, among other things, dependent upon good discipline in the classroom and excessive noise in a classroom is disruptive of good discipline. This invention provides the classroom teacher with a means of immediately controlling the noise level in any classroom with any arrangement of the students. It further provides a means for instructing students to accept responsibility for maintaining a level of noise to the classroom which is conducive to achieving academic excellence.Operation of the device is simple. The teacher places it any place in the classroom that may be desired and turns it on. The device is then in a monitoring mode. The teacher sets an adjustable gain control and predetermines a level of noise which will be unacceptable. The device monitors the classroom without further intervention of the teacher. When the noise level in the classroom exceeds the preset level for a continuous five seconds, the device enters its response mode and a buzzer sounds for approximately four seconds. The five second toleration period allows for unexpected noises such as sneezes, a book falling, etc., thus making the device a monitress of the average noise level in a classroom.While the device is in its response mode, it automatically ceases to monitor the noise in the classroom, thus it cannot activate itself. As soon as the response mode ends, the device automatically reverts to a monitoring mode.What is unique about this device is:(a) it has a sensitivity range which makes it usable in an ordinary classroom,(b) it can endure a preset level of sound for at least five seconds without entering the response mode,(c) it automatically interrupts the monitoring mode and cannot self-activate the circuit,(d) it automatically returns to a monitoring mode upon completion of its response mode,(e) it can be used in any environment where students are being educated regardless of external power supplies, arrangements of students, or enlisting participation of the students in any particular fashion.

摘要: A sound level indicator apparatus includes a signal processing element which detects and processes sound pressure waves into quantifiable electrical signals. The indicator also includes an adjustment member which adjusts the quantifiable signals to compensate for intrinsic electrical variations in the processing element. Further included is a monitoring member which detects when the received sound is below a predetermined level. The indicator still further includes an indicator element which displays the quantified quantifiable signals and the low level monitor detection signal. The sound level indicator is operatively combined with a digital watch integrated circuit for containment in a case which is wearable on one's wrist.
