Abstract:
Various arrangements are directed to locating a television receiver. Multiple tuners of the television receiver may be simultaneously tuned to different television distribution satellites to receive timing signals. Using these timing signals, the location of the television receiver may be determined. Based on a comparison between a stored, expected location of the television receiver and the determined location, the functionality of the television receiver may be adjusted.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a broadcasting signal receiving apparatus including: at least one first input port, and a second input port which is provided separately from the first input port, the at least one first input port and the second input port are configured to receive a broadcasting signal; at least one first tuner configured to process the broadcasting signal; a first main switch configured to selectively connect the second input port with the at least one first tuner; and a controller configured to control the first main switch so that a first broadcasting signal received in the at least one first input port or a second broadcasting signal received in the second input port is input to the at least one first tuner.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for operating a radio receiving device, which receives and outputs a radio signal which transmits a radio station signal of a selected radio station. The method comprises acquiring radio channels which transmit the radio station signal of the selected radio station by means of a separate radio channel-specific radio signal in each case, ascertaining radio channel-specific parameters of the acquired radio channels, generating radio channel-specific radio station signals by processing the radio signals of the radio channels in consideration of the respective radio channel-specific parameters, standardizing the generated radio channel-specific radio station signals, superimposing the standardized radio channel-specific radio station signals to form a reception radio station signal, and outputting the reception radio station signal.
Abstract:
An antenna sub-system apparatus for receiving a plurality of over the air television broadcast signals comprising a plurality of antennas packaged together capable of receiving broadcast signals, each antenna capable of receiving independent signals, and an active electronics assembly, wherein the antennas are secured together, include a coupling means for connecting to the active electronics assembly, and, a plurality of amplifier/tuner elements, one for each antenna.
Abstract:
A method for automatically tuning a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) channel in an audio video navigation (AVN) system having a dual-tuner is provided. The method includes performing a best station memory (BSM) function by a first tuner, and receiving traffic information by a second tuner. A controller determines whether DMB viewing is requested by a user. When the DMB viewing is requested by the user according to the determination result, digital multimedia broadcast is received by the first tuner. Alternately, traffic information is received, and the BSM function is performed by the second tuner. When the DMB viewing is not requested by the user according to the determination result, a current state is maintained.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for tracking the transmission power level of a home network transmission signal based on the signal level of a received broadcast signal is described. The method includes transmitting a signal at a first transmitted level used for communicating in a home network, detecting a signal level for the transmitted signal in a circuit used for receiving a broadcast signal, determining if a gain setting value for the signal level changes, and adjusting the transmitted signal level for the transmitted signal based on the determination. The apparatus includes a network circuit that transmits a signal at a first transmitted signal level, a detector that detects the transmitted signal in a circuit for receiving a broadcast signal, and a controller that determines if a signal level setting value for the signal level changes and adjusts the transmitted signal level based on the determination.

Abstract:
A method of performing alternate frequency switching in a radio includes tuning the radio to a primary frequency. A candidate alternate frequency is identified. It is determined whether the candidate alternate frequency is a third order inter-modulation artifact. Tuning is switched from the primary frequency to the candidate alternate frequency only if it is determined in the determining step that the candidate alternate frequency is not a third order inter-modulation artifact.
Abstract:
Receiver apparatus comprises: first and second receiving systems; a demodulation/diversity combining means for combining demodulated signals of first and second receiving systems; a selection means for selecting and outputting an output of either one of first and second receiving systems; and a control means for controlling the operations of the whole receiver apparatus. Control means causes to execute a first composite operation, either one of the receiving systems is caused to continue reception operation while the other receiving system is caused to perform channel search to search a channel satisfying a predetermined condition, further the selection means is caused to select output of the resulting receiving system for performing continuous reception operation. If no channel to be received is found, the control means controls to interchange the receiving system for performing continuous reception operation and the receiving system for performing channel search, and to perform a second composite operation.
Abstract:
A method of operating a single-tuner radio includes tuning into a first frequency. A pause in a first signal associated with the first frequency is detected. Tuning is switched from the first frequency to a second frequency during the pause. Fieldstrength, multipath, adjacent channel energy, frequency offset and FM modulation for the second frequency are measured. Tuning is switched from the second frequency to the first frequency. Tuning is switched from the first frequency to the second frequency dependent upon the measuring step.
