Abstract:
An image reading apparatus comprises a scanner and an ADF. The scanner includes a housing having an upper surface which is formed of a document table glass and a through-read glass. The ADF is provided to cover the document table glass and through-read glass. The housing contains first and second carriages such that they can slide along rails. In a through-read mode, the first carriage is moved to a reading position below the through-read glass, the case of the first carriage is magnetically held by an electromagnet, and the first carriage is fixed at a reading position. A vibration-absorbing member is interposed between the electromagnet and the case, thereby preventing vibration, generated by an ADF driving motor, from being transmitted to the first carriage via the housing.

The invention is a scan device with elastic reserve type and its scan method, mainly applied to the light, thin, short and small scanner, image recorder, etc. The invention includes a guide bar, a chassis, a gear structure, an elastic module, a fastening structure and a sensor device, wherein, a scan module is on the chassis, the gear structure is consisting of at least one gear, the fastening structure is consisting of at least two fasteners and the sensor device is consisting of at least two sensors with one objective. To use the elasticity with the feature of reserving ability and the fastening structure is to move the chassis for scanning. The scanning motion of start and stop is via the sensor device. For combining the function of the above each part, most of them take traditionally mechanical transmission except that scan module is electrical power.
Abstract:
A locking device is proposed for scanner having an optical module. The optical module has a base and an image scanning means arranged on one side of the base. A locking hole and a mounting portion for the locking device are provided at predetermined locations on the image scanning means and the base, respectively. The mounting portion is a through hole piercing the base. The locking device is arranged within the mounting portion and the upper portion of the locking device is engaged within the locking hole. By using a locking device wherein the upper end thereof detaches from the locking on the scanner when the lower end thereof is pivotally rotated by the pushing force from table, the scanning means of the scanner can move laterally. The image scanning means is not shifted during portage.

A locking mechanism for fixing a carriage at a specific position automatically is provided. This locking mechanism includes a fixing device and a transmitting device. The fixing device is used for securing the carriage at the specific position, and the transmitting device is used for driving the carriage to be secured to the fixing device in a first instance and detaching the carriage from the fixing device in a second instance.

An image reading device comprises: a frame; a reading unit provided with a line sensor for reading a text image; a guide member fixed to the frame for supporting the reading unit such that the reading unit is free to slide in a predetermined direction; and a stay fixed to the frame. A screwhole is formed at a predetermined position in the reading unit, a first throughhole is formed in the frame coaxially with the screwhole, and a second throughhole is formed in the stay coaxially with the screwhole and the first throughout. Further, an elastic member having a third throughhole engages with the first throughhole in the frame, and a holding member is provided comprising a grip of large diameter and a screw of small diameter. The reading unit is fixed, when the image reading device is transported, by screwing the screw into the screwhole of the reading unit through the second throughhole of the stay and through the third throughhole of the elastic member.
