摘要: A laser array and a reflection surface of a rotary polygonal mirror are set in an afocal and conjugate relation by a collimator lens. The reflection surface of the rotary polygonal mirror and a scanning position of a peripheral surface of a photosensitive drum are set in an afocal and conjugate relationship by first and second cylinder mirrors. Therefore, plural light beams emitted from light emission points of the laser array are made incident on and deflected by the reflection surface of the rotary polygonal mirror, in a parallel state and without forming an angle with respect to the subscanning direction. The plural light beams are then incident on the peripheral surface of the photosensitive drum in a parallel state and focused thereon. Accordingly, bow difference and pitch deviation are decreased regardless of an interval between light emission points for output of the respective light beams.

摘要: A multibeam optical scanner has a plurality of light sources each of which has a plurality of light emission points. In order to reduce the influence of image misregistration between scan lines in the main scanning direction even in the state where positioning error between an optical scanner and a drum exists, the distance occupied by all of the spots on the surface to be scanned in the main scanning direction is set shorter than the distance in the main scanning direction between the lines that are set so as to pass the spots from the same light source among the plural light sources and extend over the distance occupied by all of the spots in the sub scanning direction.

摘要: Provided are a multi-beam scanning optical system capable of implementing high-quality printing in relatively simple structure and at high speed, and an image forming apparatus using it. The multi-beam scanning optical system has an incidence optical unit for guiding a plurality of beams emitted from a light source unit having a plurality of light-emitting regions spaced apart from each other in a main scanning direction, to a deflector; a scanning optical unit for focusing the plurality of beams deflected by the deflector, on a surface to be scanned; and a synchronism-detecting optical unit for converging part of the plurality of beams deflected by the deflector, via a return mirror on a slit surface by a lens section, thereafter guiding the beams to a synchronism detector, and controlling timing of a scan start position on the surface to be scanned, by use of a signal from the synchronism detector. The elements are set so as to satisfy Condition (A) where &dgr;M is a defocus amount in a main scanning section of the beams guided to the synchronism detector and in a view from the slit surface and &dgr;X is a defocus amount at each image height on the surface to be scanned.

摘要: A scanning optical device and color image forming apparatus use a refraction element and diffraction element as the scanning optical element of a scanning optical device, the powers of the refraction element and diffraction element being set such that an imaging position deviation in the main scanning direction caused by a wavelength variation along with the environmental fluctuation of the scanning optical device and a imaging position deviation caused by the refractive index variation of the material of the scanning optical element are set to opposite directions at the two ends of an effective image region (effective scanning region). This reduces imaging position deviation caused by an environmental fluctuation, and limits imaging position deviation caused by a wavelength variation not accompanied by any environmental fluctuation. By this means it is possible with a simple arrangement at low cost to prevent color image misregistration between colors caused by a wavelength fluctuation or environmental fluctuation and largely to avoid density nonuniformity between colors.

摘要: It is an object of this invention to provide a light scanning device capable of suppressing a scanning line bend to a low level, which is caused by the arrangement error of a single-element lens serving as an imaging optical element, and an image forming apparatus using the device. In order to achieve the object, according to this invention, an imaging optical system is formed from a single-element lens, and a sectional shape of an exit surface in the main scanning direction is an arcuated shape. The power in the sub scanning direction substantially concentrates on the exit surface having an arcuated sectional shape in the main scanning direction, and the arcuated shape (curvature) in the main scanning direction is so determined as to make the magnification in the sub scanning direction uniform.

摘要: A display or image capture apparatus includes a scanning assembly that scans about two or more axes, typically in a raster pattern. A plurality of light sources emit light from spaced apart locations toward the scanning assembly and the scanning assembly simultaneously scans more than one of the beams. The light sources are positioned so each beam illuminates a discrete region of the image field that is substantially non-overlapping with the other regions. Each line of the image is formed from segments where two or more of the segments define a line of an image. Because the lines are made from discrete segments, the problem of raster pinch is reduced. The achievable resolution of the display for a given scan angle and mirror size is increased relative to a mirror sweeping a single beam. Segments of different wavelengths can be overlapped to produce a color display.
