    摘要: A hydraulic system having a standpipe in a sump with ports on the side of the standpipe and one smaller port on the top of the standpipe. The majority of the oil flows into the standpipe through the side ports thereby reducing the downward suction and flow at the top of the standpipe to eliminate the formation of a vortex at the top of the standpipe. As a result, less air is drawn into the oil producing a more consistent oil/air mixture and more consistent sump oil level.

    摘要: A reservoir for power steering fluid includes an upright housing that forms an upper interior space for storage of a reserve fluid supply, and a lower interior space containing a fluid filter. Fluid connectors are provided for causing fluid to flow in a circumferential swirling pattern as it moves through the filter, such that the flowing fluid has a relatively long residence time in the lower portion of the reservoir for achievement of an effective cooling action. The fluid filter is connected in a return line form the power steering unit to the associated pump, so that the filter exerts a back pressure on fluid flowing from the power steering unit to the filter.

    摘要: A liquid dispenser and control system includes a base member having an intake cavity with an axis for orientation in an upward direction, the intake cavity being sealingly mateable with a mouth opening of a replaceable liquid container which, when mated with the intake cavity, is in an inverted position for draining liquid through the mouth opening into the intake cavity. The intake cavity includes a sump into which liquid from the container can drain by gravity. The vent tube assembly has an intake end connectable to atmosphere or a source of gas, the vent tube assembly extending from the base member through the intake cavity, and has a venting end for positioning inside the container. A passageway extends through a portion of the base member, the passageway having an entry end and an exit end, the entry end connected to the sump, through which liquid from the sump can drain into the passageway. A sensor has a fluid path therethrough connected to the exit end of the passageway, the sensor for detecting when liquid flow through the passageway from the container ceases and is followed by gas from the container entering the sensor. A liquid conduit is connected to the fluid path of the sensor, for receiving liquid passing through the sensor.

    摘要: A scavenger system (10) for a hydraulic recirculating installation, such as may be employed with a vehicular transmission (11), which employs a sump (18) to collect the recirculating hydraulic fluid (19). The sump (18) is to be maintained essentially dry, and as a result the requisite volume of hydraulic fluid (19) for the recirculating installation is stored within an independent reservoir (28). The sump (18) is provided with one or more collecitng wells (21), and a unique pickup head assembly (22) is received within each well (21). The pickup head assembly incorporates capillary ducts (46) which control communication between the well (21) and the conduit means (29) in response to the hydraulic fluid (19) within the well. The capillary filter serves to admit the flow of hydraulic fluid freely therethrough but precludes the passage of air therethrough. A circulating pump (25) has an inlet port (30) which communicates with the reservoir (28) by virtue of a conduit means (29). The conduit means (29) also effects communication between the inlet port (30) of the pump (25) and each pickup head assembly (22).
