Abstract:
A supplemental automobile seat for use by an animal comprising a horizontal seat component formed of a rigid material with parallel side edges, a rear edge positionable at the rear edge of a rear car seat and a parallel forward edge positionable forwardly of the forward edge of a rear car seat, the rigid component being covered on its upper surface with a cover over component, the width of the component being essentially the width of the rear car seat upon which it is positioned; a vertical seat component formed of a foam material with parallel side edges, an upper edge positionable at the upper edge of a rear car seat and a parallel lower edge positionable adjacent to the edge of the horizontal component, the vertical component being covered by a cover over the vertical component, the width of the component being essentially the width of the rear car seat upon which it is positioned; a hinge formed of the cover coupling the horizontal seat component and the vertical seat component for storage purposes; and a pair of vertical legs removably positioned with respect to the lower surface of the horizontal component adjacent to the forward end thereof, the legs having lower ends positionable on the floor of the car forwardly of the car seat.
Abstract:
A pet perch for attachment to a window sill or other support surface comprises a generally rectangular frame defining a central opening, and a jacket for encasing the frame and covering the opening to provide a soft, hammock-like pet resting area. A pair of adjustable mounting brackets secures the frame to the window sill. The brackets engage channels formed in the undersides of the frame and two series of first holes extending along opposite sides of the frame. The series of first holes provide alternative fastening locations, so that the perch can be used with different depth window sills.
Abstract:
A heated place is provided for cold-blooded animals or creatures, such as snakes, and the like by casting or molding a rock-like formation with a base, sides, and ridge-like top in proximity at least one location and having a predetermined contour. The rock-like formation and its contour are selected to provide a suitable and relatively comfortable habitat and place for the creature to set, rest and/or sleep. A heating device is provided to heat the area of the rock-like formation particularly at and about the contour of its ridge-like top. The heating device is embedded within the material of the rock-like formation proximate the ridge-like top so as to follow its contour. The heating filament or element of the heating device is encapsulated in silicon which is then encapsulated in an aluminum braid sheath. An epoxy encapsulation is provided at the place where the leads connected to a source of electrical power. Electrical resistors may be electrically connected in parallel with the heating element and similarly encapsulated.
Abstract:
A restraining device for confining quadrupeds, particularly suited for use in restraining unruly animals, such as illtempered cows and the like, for various handling purposes, including facilitating milking operations. The device is characterized by a plurality of pairs of generally parallel restraining rails pivotally coupled to a manger of a type including a plurality of yokes for simultaneously receiving the heads of a plurality of animals to be restrained, and an actuator coupled therewith for imparting thereto a lifting force, whereby a simultaneous, pivotal repositioning of the rails between angularly spaced positions readily is accommodated for receiving and restraining the animals. The rails are mounted on the device to permit their substantially vertical oscillation about a horizontal axis, as well as their substantially horizontal oscillation about a vertical axis, whereby the rails pivot in orthogonally related planes.
