    摘要: In a flow meter of the type comprising a rotor consisting of a spindle 12 and bearing heads 9 and 11 cooperating with seats 5 and 6 to give support of the rotor, it has been found that the flow does not split evenly between the ends. In order to improve the flow performance, the flow characteristics of the two heads 9 and 11 are chosen to be different so as to have their transitions from laminar to turbulent flow occuring sequentially. It is preferred that the turbine means on the rotor be formed by angled passages through the bearing heads 9 and 11.

    摘要: A restrained turbine high dynamic response mass rate of fluid flow sensor for applications to air flow sensing in internal combustion engine fuel controls. The turbine rotor vanes impart an angular momentum change to the fluid in passing through the turbine vanes and signals are generated corresponding to the resulting reaction forces, these signals combined with signals corresponding to the fluid temperature and downstream pressure to yield mass rate of flow output signals. Variations of the turbine rotor support configurations include a friction free flexural restraint comprised of radial webs which may also act as stator vanes, secured to the turbine hub. In several embodiments, reaction forces are sensed by measuring the reactive torque imposed on the turbine rotor and the flexural restraint supporting the rotor provides a rigid support for absorbing the radial and axial forces while being compliant to torque. In these embodiments, the torque is measured either by allowing limited deflection against the resilience of the flexure and measuring the deflection, or by rigidly resisting angular deflection and measuring the reaction force with a force sensing transducer. In a torque sensing embodiment, a nonlinear spring opposes the angular deflection of the turbine rotor to produce an angular deflection decreasing with increasing flow rates to vary the relationship of the output signals of the sensor in relation to the mass flow rate. In an alternate embodiment, the turbine support is compliant to the axial reaction forces acting on the turbine rotor, and a force transducer absorbing the axial forces generates signals corresponding thereto. An optimum ratio of the turbine hub diameter to outer vane diameter is disclosed.

    摘要: A musical instrument is disclosed which is capable of being operated in either of two different ways--through the use of a rotary record member, or through the manual manipulation of individual keys. The instrument disclosed includes a windchest used to supply air to either of two different principal valves, each of which is capable of being manipulated so as to set up resonance within an associated resonance chamber. Secondary valves are provided for varying the acoustically effective dimensions of the resonating chambers. All of the valves have actuators which extend into an area of the instrument capable of serving as a holder for the record member. When the record member is inserted in this holder and rotated cams on the record member engage the actuators so as to cause the production of a desired series of notes. Keys on the instrument are capable of being manually manipulated so as to cause the movement of levers into engagement with the actuators when no record member is present.

    摘要: A variable ratio drive transmission driven by a fluid meter has means to vary the output to a counter in accordance with variations in both the pressure and temperature of the fluid and is comprised of a rotatable disc the drive surface of which is in drive engagement with two wheel members, both of which are mounted for adjustment radially of the axis of rotation of the disc member The drive surface of the disc is in a plane normal to its axis of rotation and is comprised of an elastomer having a high degree of recovery and a high degree of resistance to abrasion. The drive from the meter is through one of the wheel members the radial position of which is adjusted in accordance with variations in the temperature of the fluid being metered. The radial position of the other wheel member is adjusted in accordance with variations in the pressure of the fluid being metered and is drive connected to an output counter to indicate total volume of fluid flow through the meter corrected for both pressure and temperature. A flexible connection is provided in the linkage between the temperature sensing element and the pressure sensing element and their respective wheel members to permit flexing of the sensing elements when the disc and wheel members are not in motion. Means is provided to adjust the temperature limits within which the apparatus will operate, the position of the fluid temperature versus accuracy curve of the apparatus, to adjust the linearity of the fluid pressure versus accuracy curve, and to adjust the position of the fluid pressure versus accuracy curve.

    摘要: A flowmeter system of the type employing a modification circuit responds to a pulse producing volumetric flow transducer and to a signal converter connected to a temperature sensitive transducer for providing a compensated metered output of a corrected series of output pulses relating to a selected reference base or standard temperature for the fluid. The signal converter is connected to the remotely located probe through a connecting circuit and functions to provide an analog output representing the difference between the sensed fluid temperature and the reference or standard temperature while providing dynamic lead length compensation for the connecting circuit. A constant current source is precisely regulated and also selectively adjustable to provide a dual slope approximation of the temperature deviation range with respect to the corresponding probe resistance deviation range at the signal converter output. A monitor responds to malfunctions occurring within the system and calibration circuits permit quick and accurate calibration.

    摘要: A frequency multiplier for frequency variable electronic signals for use with a fluid flow measuring system. The generally sinusoidal output signal from a fluid flowmeter is converted to a square wave signal of the same frequency. The square wave signal is integrated to form a triangular wave signal variable in both amplitude and frequency with the frequency of the square wave signal. The peak-to-peak amplitude of the triangular wave signal is then adjusted to a predetermined value irrespective of input signal amplitude or frequency in an automatic gain control circuit, and the frequency of the triangular wave is thereafter doubled to the desired value by cascaded doubling stages. Each doubling stage includes a two-channel half-wave rectifier, means for shifting the bias of the rectified waves, and means for both inverting one of the bias shifted waves and for combining the inverted wave with the other bias shifted wave to center the combined wave about a zero volt axis. In an alternative embodiment, with the output signal from the flowmeter in the form of a series of constant amplitude, constant width, variable recurrence rate pulses, a reversible ramp generator is used to form a triangular wave signal having an amplitude and a frequency variable with the frequency of pulse recurrence. The peak-to-peak amplitude of this triangular wave is likewise adjusted to a predetermined constant value and the frequency multiplied in cascaded doubling stages as described above.
