    摘要: A snowboard rider wears boots that fit into manually releasable bindings which are attached to the top surface of the snowboard, analogous to bindings on alpine skis. Generally, the snowboard bindings are aligned at approximately right angles to the longitudinal axis of the board, with one foot nearer to the front of the board, and the other foot nearer to the tail of the board. In a typical binding design, each boot is rigidly held in a fixed position with respect to the snowboard with no movement of the foot being possible absent corresponding movement of the snowboard. The snowboard binding described herein permits the rider to enjoy the flexibility of toe-to-heel movement, while providing for a simple method of restraining that method for terrains in which flexibility would be detrimental. Each binding consists of a footplate onto which the boot is strapped, a fulcrum attached to the bottom of the footplate, and a fulcrum receptacle mounted on top of the snowboard. When the fulcrum is a rigid half circle with the flat edge attached to the bottom of the footplate, a fulcrum pin is inserted through the fulcrum receptacle and through a hole formed in the fulcrum to hold the fulcrum in place with respect to the snowboard, while allowing toe-to-heel motion around the axis of the fulcrum. A separate locking pin may be removably inserted into a locking pin receptacle mounted on the bottom of the footplate and through an adjacent hole formed in the fulcrum receptacle to inhibit vertical flexibility of the footplate when desired.

    摘要: An adjustable, rotatable boot-binding mount (20) includes a swivel plate (40) having threaded mounting holes (24) therein to which a conventional boot binding (60) or boot may be mounted. The swivel plate (40) is rotatably retained within a base plate (30) which is securely fastened to the top surface of a snowboard (10) or other recreational board. During normal use, the swivel plate (40) is automatically and continuously locked against rotation within the base plate (30), thereby securely maintaining the boot binding in a desired angular position relative to the snowboard. At other times, e.g., while standing in lift lines or riding a lift, a quick release mechanism (27, 48) allows the swivel plate to be temporarily unlocked so that a different angular position of the swivel plate (and hence a different angular position of the boot binding or boot) relative to the snowboard may be quickly and easily realized.

    摘要: An adjustable snowboard binding assembly which can be rotatably controlled without the use of external tools. A snowboard boot mounting platform has a plurality of inwardly facing radial teeth along the circumference of a centralized circular cutout. A circumferential lip along the cutout is used to rotatably mount the platform via overlapping lipped quadrant segments which mount to the snowboard. A pair of radially sliding segments with teeth at their outer ends are slidably held-by said quadrant segments. A slidable band is mounted via actuating/locking levers along the longitudinal length of the snowboard, with said band having upwardly extending posts which interface with angled slots formed in each sliding segment. In operation, the actuating levers are unlocked and the band slides forwards and backwards to effectuate radial movement of the sliding segments. This in turn effectuates locking engagement and disengagement between the radial circumferential teeth and the sliding segment teeth. This adjustment operation can be performed by the user without removing the boot from the mounting platform and without loosening screws or other attachment means.

    摘要: A snowboard binding system is disclosed which uses a pair of cables extending from spaced points on a first forward boot plate to corresponding spaced points on a second rearward boot plate, with each cable passing through independent tensioning means for preventing movement of the boot plates under normal loads occurring as a snowboarder is maneuvering. When an abnormal load is encountered by one boot plate, the retaining force applied by the tensioning means is overcome and both boot plates are conditionally releasable, but not separated from the snowboard. The cable binding system also allows automatic return of the plates to the snowboard where they are held against movement when the abnormal load is reduced to a normal level.

    摘要: This invention relates to a rider responsive boot binder attachment mechanism that enhances the maneuverability and responsiveness of a snowboard to rider movements. A pair of first plate members 15 are secured in spaced relationship to a snowboard, a pair of second plate members 20 are rotatably secured, one each, to the first pair of plate members and boot binder mechanism 14 attached to each of the second plate members at the desired angulation therewith. Elastomeric structure in the form of elongated spiral springs 24,26,28 and 30 are disposed between each connected first and second plate to limit relative rotation therebetween and to exert a force on the plates to effect return to an original preset position after the plates have been rotated relative to each other by rider applied torque action. Adjustment mechanism is provided in each boss and stop element disposed at each end of each spring to adjust the effective length of each spring and thereby regulate the initial compression or tension exerted by each spring. A ball bearing assembly facilitates relative rotation between plates 15 and 20.
