    摘要： The production of high ''''soft stretch'''' tapes of reinforcing cords usable in the single-stage building of 0* belted pneumatic tires completely in flat band form on standard building drums, is disclosed, together with a representative form of apparatus suitable for the practice of the invention. In general, the types of tape to be produced include one or more such cords, each having formed therein a multiplicity of undulations which in any given straight length of the tape are substantially planar, and a relatively weak and frangible but only minimally undulated stabilizing yarn, the components of the tape being secured to each other and held in their undulating state by a relative weak, chain stitch knitted, frangible stitching yarn or thread. The tape-forming apparatus generally includes an undulating and tying mechanism for both undulating the cords and securing them to each other in that state, and means for controlling both the cord feed rate into and the tape feed rate out of said mechanism. Where the tape is to be composed of cords additionally locally weakened at a multiplicity of longitudinally spaced points, the apparatus further includes means for weakening the cords prior to their entry into the undulating and tying mechanism, and means for phasing all the component cords of any given tape relative to each other so as to dispose the respective weakened portions of each cord out of lateral alignment with the weakened portions of at least each next adjacent cord. Where the tape further is to have a relatively higher cord count, provided by uniting a plurality of relatively lower cord count tapes, the apparatus also includes means for phasing the low cord number tapes relative to each other. This abstract is not to be taken as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention, however, the full nature and extent of the invention being discernible only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.

    摘要： A stringer foundation for a slide fastener has a pair of parallel tapes which have been simultaneously formed on a warpknitting machine with a connecting filament joining their confronting edges. Each tape is formed by a plurality of warp chains laterally interconnected by laid-in weft filaments which span at least three of the wales formed by the chains. The connecting filament can be tensioned tighter than either the warp or weft filaments to form openings adjacent the edge wale. The connecting filament is adapted to be removed after mounting of the coupling elements.

    摘要： Warp knitting machine having a zone wherein needles are disposed and means for supplying warp threads to the needles includes a device for filling a weft having first holder members for making the weft ready outside the needle zone, means for guiding the weft to the warp threads comprising a thread guide cooperating therewith for making the weft ready, the thread guide being displaceable in a closed travel path, means for feeding a plurality of wefts selectively to the thread guide for entrainment thereby in the closed travel path thereof, the thread guide having a clamping member for individually gripping the thread for each weft, second holder means located adjacent the travel path of the thread guide and adapted to receive from the latter the weft gripped by the clamping member, and a severing member coordinated with the first holder members for cutting into predetermined lengths the weft to be made ready, the severing member being connected to the displacement thread guide.
