The field surface of the track plate is of substantially greater area than the gauge surface of the aperture. An elastomeric mass fills between the frame and the track plate.

A low maintenance rail seat has recess in the concrete tie and an abrasion plate that covers the floor of the recess and its sides parallel to the rail base. The abrasion plate includes ribs which seat in additional recesses in the tie to retard longitudinal movement. The anti-abrasion assembly preferably has four flanges which wrap around the top of concrete tie to prevent dust particles from entering and abrading the concrete rail seat. These flanges also wrap around the support shoulder for additional resistance to longitudinal movement. The components are designed to provide 8.5″ of lateral support along the side of the rail base while the traditional e clip fastener provides only 3″ of lateral support. The interlock feature between the anti-abrasion assembly and the concrete tie also minimizes relative movement between abrasion plate and concrete tie, which results in less concrete surface abrasion.

Fastening of rails on wooden or concrete sleepers by a metal pressure plate-clip in the form of a trapezoid (1.5) and a plastic tie-plate (1.4). The metal pressure plate-clip and the plastic tie-plate constitute an entirety, and provides a continuous pressure along its entire edge (2.1). The edge leaning on the rail base is formed in the way to enable a smooth gliding along the rail base during pulling on, preventing unnecessary resistance and damage. The other, narrower side of the pressure plate is formed in the way that it has a fixation edge at its end (3.2), preventing any shifting. The plastic tie-plate has a fixation groove at its outer end (4.2) in which the narrower, outer end of the pressure plate enters. The groove is formed in the way that it forms a firm connection with the outer end of the metal pressure plate-clip, so that taking out of the pressure plate is not possible. The tie-plate also contains a bigger groove (4.4), which allows deformation of the pressure plate during dismounting.

A tie plate is provided for securing a rail to a railway tie. The tie plate has a base with a tie face opposite a rail face, opposite end faces extending between the tie and the rail faces, a gauge side opposite a field side with said gauge and field sides extending between the opposite end faces and the rail and tie faces. A rail support section runs across the rail face between the opposite end faces and along the gauge and field sides. The tie plate further has a respective clip hold down housing adjacent the rail support section on the field side and the gauge side, each clip hold down housing having a rail abutting face proximal the rail support section and a longitudinally extending receptacle for receiving a spring clip. A respective rail locating shoulder extends from the rail face on either side of the rail support section. Locating ridges extend from the tie face for embedding into a tie. Screw holes extend through the tie plate between the rail and tie faces on the field side and on the gauge side for receiving lag screws to secure the tie plate to the tie. At least one spike hole extends through the tie plate between the tie face and the rail face on each of the field side and the tie side.

A method of fixing a rail on a rail-support by metal spikes each comprising a round shaft having a top and terminated by a head for bearing against a rail flange with at least the bottom portion of the spike shaft being received in the rail-support in such a manner that the spike head is directed away from the rail-supporting surface of the rail-support. The bottom portion of the shaft includes at least one zone made of a plastically deformed material, and an antirotation structure is provided co-operating with complementary parts of the rail support for preventing any rotation of the bottom portion of the spike relative to the rail support when a couple below a predetermined value is applied to the top portion of the spike. The bottom portion of the shaft is placed in the rail support, the rail is placed on the rail support in the position in which it is to be fixed, and then a sufficient twisting couple is applied to the plastically deformable zone of the spike by twisting the top portion of the spike to bring the head over and bearing against the rail flange by plastic deformation in the plastically deformable zone.
