摘要： Powdered metal is continuously introduced into a die cavity in discrete quantities and compacted into bar segments to form a bar. The cavity has a fixed cross-sectional area and is open at both ends, except during the initial compaction when one end is closed. After formation of a length of the bar, the frictional resistance between the bar and the cavity wall is relied on so that the bar remaining in the cavity serves as a stopper for subsequent compactions of the discrete quantities of powdered metal to form the continuous bar. The bar is forced out of the cavity and may be passed through an induction furnace for sintering, and through a swager, all preferably in a continuous operation. Also provided is means for varying the compaction so that the bar lengths formed from the discrete quantities of powdered metal are compacted and bonded into a bar of substantially uniform physical characteristics along its length.

摘要： A front bearing block assembly for a tractor fifth wheel assembly comprising generally a fifth wheel plate having coupling jaws including a rear locking jaw and an intermediate locking jaw mounted for translatory movement and a stationary front bearing block assembly including a front locking jaw projecting from one face of a bearing block. A shank of varying lengthwise cross section and terminating in a bulbular-like end projects from the opposite face. The front bearing block assembly includes a resilient buffer block having a slot along the upper face. The slot receives the shank and has a cross section varying along the length thereof in substantially the same manner as the shank but of about the same area so as to resiliently grip the latter.

摘要： A coupler having a housing including a top locklift hole sealed by a removable cap. The cap is made from plastic and includes a cover plate overlying and sealing the hole. The cover plate is formed with an outwardly projecting bubble having a plurality of angularly spaced legs. Upon depressing the bubble inwardly the legs wedgingly engage the inwardly diverging side walls defining the locklift hole. The cap is removable only by force applied upwardly through the locklift chamber to return the bubble to its outwardly projecting condition thereby to release the legs from the side walls.

The friction shoes are retained in the bolster pocket by the cooperation of a lip on the lower interior surface of the bolster pocket which engages the leading edge of the wedge-shaped friction shoe and the engagement of the rear vertical surface of the shoe and the adjacent vertical column of the side frame.
