摘要: The invention is a process for preparing round, fluid filled microcapsules by the simultaneous extrusion, of core and shell material from coaxially aligned and concentric extrusion nozzles into a surrounding carrier fluid moving in the direction of the extrusion wherein a surfactant having affinity with the carrier fluid is added to the carrier fluid. When the carrier fluid is an oil based carrier, a lipophilic emulsifier such as a sorbitan monoester of a fatty acid can be used.

摘要: A container and finger-depressible pump combination having improved non-leaking characteristics when the container holds a fluid (e.g., a volatile fluid such as nail polish remover) is described. The container which holds the fluid has a finger-depressible pump joined to its opened upper neck with the portion of the pump normally extending into the fluid in the container being encased in a closed but removable shroud which encases and isolates that portion of the pump and the adjacent portions of the pump from contact with the fluid. The shroud is a generally tubular structure being closed at its lower end and having circumferential flange means at its opposed open upper end which are adapted to be seated upon the upper land surface of the container neck underneath a portion of the cap holding the pump.

摘要: The present invention is an improved applicator swab which contains a resilient cushion element between the end of the applicator stick and the adherent, absorbent swab tip for the applicator swab. The presence of the cushion element, which is preferably formed of a soft, resilient hot melt adhesive, gives an added degree of protection should the end of the stick holding the swab tip protrude through the body of the tip upon being manipulated by the end user of the applicator swab.

摘要: This invention relates to novel water in oil emulsions. The emulsions of this invention are translucent water in oil emulsions comprising a water phase containing a humectant, an oil phase comprising petroleum jelly and the like and an emulsifying agent to give a water in oil emulsion; the aqueous phase having a refractive index in essentially the same range as the oil phase. The translucent water in oil of this invention have the same general appearance and feel of petroleum jelly and function like petroleum jelly but are superior thereto in the sense that when applied to skin will not only help prevent water from escaping therefrom or exist a barrier effect, but also, will allow water humectants and other moisturizers from the emulsion water phase to pass therethrough to contact the skin and to moisturize the skin. The compositions of this invention are useful as skin moisturizer compositions. They may be used as a carrier or vehicle for oil and water soluble tropical drugs. They also may be used in the same general way as petrolatum (e.g. skin protectant agent, emollient, lubricant, etc.).

摘要: A machine for separating single plies of fabric from a stack of fabric plies uses a roller provided with a fabric ply engaging mechanism. The roller engages the top ply of fabric and removes it with a rolling action. The engaging mechanism comprises a pivotable rod mounted on the roller and provided with protruding pins which engage the top ply of fabric from the stack as the rod is pivoted. The machine can be arranged to sort alternate plies of fabric from one stack into separate stacks. The machine can be provided with an adjustable support for holding the stack and with a detector for detecting the presence of a single fabric ply on the roller. The engaging mechanism is provided with a pair of pin holders whose spacing can be varied, the roller is provided with a plurality of rows of air holes to provide air flow to aid in separating a single ply from the stack, a detection arrangement is included which can detect folds in the single ply during its transport on the roller, and the adjustable support uses an improved arrangement for maintaining an essentially constant upward pressure by the stack against the roller during pickup despite changes in the size of stack as it is depleted by removal of the plies.
