摘要: An expansible shaft assembly has core-engagement shoes pivotally mounted to a shaft for pivoting outwardly into tight engagement with the interior of a roll core automatically in response to the application of torque to the shaft. The core-engagement shoes have core-engaging surfaces, some being pivotable outwardly in response to torque applied to the shaft in one axial direction and others being pivotable outwardly in response to torque applied in the opposite axial direction. The respective oppositely-actuated core-engaging surfaces can both be on the same engagement shoe or, alternatively, on different shoes spaced axially along the shaft. For maximizing the speed with which the core-engagement shoes engage the core in response to torque application, the core-engaging surfaces are preferably angularly offset significantly from a radial direction extending between the axis of rotation of the shaft and the pivot axis of the engagement shoe.

摘要: There is disclosed in the present specification a core chuck including a deformable outer sleeve of elastomer or equivalent material and a multi-lobar generally rigid internal actuator for expanding the sleeve as a result of relative angular motion in either direction between the sleeve and the actuator from their at-rest positions. The sleeve is non-cylindrical having a plurality of core engaging ridges and is compressible for initial insertion into the core.

摘要: A device for releasably holding a core or the like relative to a drive shaft passing therethrough includes at least two clamping elements located within the core. Guide pieces are fixed to a ring disc which surrounds a ring connected to the drive shaft. These guide pieces allow the clamping elements to move radially relative to the drive shaft and hold the core. A friction brake is provided to brake the ring relative to the ring disc. Also, a locking pawl arrangement is provided to selectively prevent the ring disc from rotating with the drive shaft. Accordingly, back slipping is prevented which undesirably loosens the core from the clamping elements.
