摘要: An improved heat exchanger assembly is disclosed and has a wall composed of a heat transmissive material and a plurality of sections of spaced-apart elongated fluid conduits also composed of a heat transmissive material disposed on one side of the wall for conveying a heat transfer fluid therethrough. The assembly includes an elongated filler member, which either has a solid outer surface or is a wire mesh structure, and which extends longitudinally through the space between at least one adjacent pair of the spaced-apart elongated fluid conduits or conduit sections. The elongated filler member is also composed of a heat transmissive material and at least in part spaced from the fluid conduit or conduit sections, thus defining at least one opening providing communication into the space between the adjacent pair of fluid conduits. A heat transmissive fusion material, such as silver solder for example, substantially fills the opening or openings and contacts the filler member, the wall, and fluid conduits in order to bond them to one another and to provide a heat transmissive path therebetween. Preferably, the heat transmissive fusion material is introduced into the opening or openings in a flowable state, with the flowable fusion material flowing into the openings under the influence of capillary action. Such openings can optionally be defined and formed by way of a plurality of discontinuities spaced apart along the filler member and contacting the adjacent fluid conduit or conduit sections.

摘要: An ice product is disclosed having improved liquid displacement characteristics and which is of a configuration which provides for splash resistance and resistance to bridging between adjacently stored products. The apparatus and method for producing the improved ice product is disclosed in the form of an ice making machine having one or more combination evaporator and ice form assemblies, each of the assemblies being provided with a plurality of pockets or recesses in which the ice product is formed during a freezing or refrigeration cycle, the ice products being subsequently discharged to an associated storage area during a subsequent harvest cycle. In a preferred construction of the present invention, the combination evaporator and ice form assemblies are arranged in a generally vertical orientation and ice make-up water is communicated with a manifold arrangement disposed above each of the assemblies, which water is intended to cascade over the surfaces of the ice forms and freeze within the pockets or recesses therein. The combination evaporator and ice form assemblies are designed such that a unique heat transfer is effected between the evaporator coils and the water freezing within the ice pockets, whereby substantially symmetrically-shaped ice products are formed within the pockets. Alternative embodiments of the present invention disclose the ice form assemblies being mounted in horizontal and inclined orientations and with the water being supplied thereto by means of associated water spray bars or the like.

摘要: A high capacity ice making machine comprising a plurality of ice producing mechanisms, each of which is provided with a plurality of ice forming molds or cups having a rotatable water spray bar located therebelow for communicating make-up water from a water sump toward the molds during a freezing cycle. The ice producing mechanisms are arranged in two tandem pairs and communicate ice produced during the freezing cycle into a common ice storage bin located therebelow. The refrigeration systems associated with each of the ice producing mechanisms employ a common refrigerant condenser which is mounted by means of a hinge arrangement whereby to permit movement of the condenser between a normally closed position and an open position to provide access to the interior of the ice making machine for purposes of inspection, maintenance and the like.

摘要: An apparatus for transferring ice cubes and the like from a first location to a remote second location, the apparatus including a conduit system communicating the two locations and a source of air for causing ice to be moved through the conduit system between the two locations; the apparatus further including diverter means whereby ice cubes being transmitted from the first location to the second location may be diverted via the conduit system to a third location. The invention further includes means for preventing damage to the ice cubes being transmitted through the conduit system due to the high velocity of air being utilized therein and also means for disposing of any melt water which may exist within the conduit system as the ice cubes are being communicated between the various remote locations.
